Miss the previous recipe
These have only 7 ingredients, made in the US, and don't have corn, wheat, other potentially concerning ingredients. Sounds great, right? And some dogs really like these treats. BUT my dogter doesn't like them. She sniffs and plays with it, but won't eat them. So, it's a no go for us. She LOVED the previous recipe of Merrick's Cowboy Cookout (there was also a brats flavored one and a chicken pot pie one). But Merrick changed the recipe from 15 ingredients to 7 ingredients. The previous recipe resulted in crunchy treats that were a darker brown (similar to a gingerbread color). This current, new recipe has 7 ingredients and the treat is a lighter oatmeal color, crumbly (not crunchy), but not exactly a soft dog treat either. Merrick, would you consider bringing back the old recipe? Call it the crunchy throwback version.
Thought these were soft chews, but not so. The dogs still liked them. Crumbles when trying to break in half.
My dog goes nuts for these.
These Cowboy Cookout treats are one of my dog's favorites. They smell good enough that I almost want to try them.... Almost.
My labrador loves these tasty treats! They are one of the few treats she can have due to her numerous food allergies.
Always a great option
My dog loves these Oven Baked treats. Every flavor has been a hit, but her favorite is the peanut butter.
More like shortbread.
These biscuits used to be hard and crunchy...perfect for large dogs...and they changed it to be softer than a Ritz cracker. Great for dogs missing teeth or who don`t like to chew. My German shepherd looked at me like, "Hey, what gives"?
Bring back the old Cowboy Cookout
First: my best friend thought these treats were ok. But they crumbled and disintegrated and (in the end) there were at least half dozen that were just dust and itty bitty pieces. These are nothing like originals. Bring them back! What is going on? Not buying them again.
A lot of broken pieces
Merrick is an excellent brand, but we end up with a lot of partial pieces.
BEST HARD BITES for older dogs
My lil Old Man Gizmo never really eats hard treats. I first got them as a quick pick-up from another retailer while waiting for Chewy order. Not thinking anything of it I was like oh this is going to be another wasted bag of treats since my dogs are accustomed to certaino nes. Well I was wrong, not only did they finish the bag I ordered them again and both of pups love them!
These treats are a good quantity for the price and are a shape that help my sheltie chew them slowly. He is missing a lot of teeth from being malnourished as a rescue, so he’s used to inhaling his food. These slow him down! Yay!
