Having a cat that had surgery for stomatitis and doing extensive research to help keep the inflammation down, research shows no seafood or poultry of any kind in the diet. Well, good luck finding that. A product may say Beef, but turn it over, read the ingredients and it will include fish, poultry, etc. I found Merrick Beef recipe Grilled in Gravy and it contains what it says on the label. I do not like any Purina product, the worst pet food anyone could buy and feed their pet. Fillers, more fillers, where products come from and handled is beyond unethical and public deceit. Merrick sold to Purina with the condition they cannot change ingredient products for 10 years. In the long run, it will save on vet bills, sickness and even death to your pet. Although the label says “grilled in gravy” which typically means the cat food is minced, chunky or morsel texture, this item is not! It is very similar to PATE and if your cat won’t eat pate don’t buy this! Would recommend Merrill’s “Cowboy Cookout Morsels in Gravy” item instead. My finicky eater loves this one but I had to return the “Perfect Bistro Beef recipe with Garden Vegetable, Grilled in Gravy “ due to its pate texture which she almost spit in my face LOL!

Looks like gray goo paste

I thought that beef would be a nice change, but all my cats have rejected this. It is not what I think of as "grilled." It appears to be a paste. It looks grey almost to me. Not sure if my cats (I have 7) care about the color, but they do about the taste. And they don't like the taste of this at all, or at least they are not eating it. I'm not sure if they even sampled it before walking away. Seems to be all there, left behind in the bowl. I've been trying healthier alternatives for them, but wish I could find some that they actually like. I will say that I think this is mislabeled as grilled. Unless your cat favors pate, I would pass by on this choice.

I had to buy special food for one of my cats that could only have certain proteins. This was one of the few that used only beef as a protein without chicken. My special diet cat loved it right away and still loves it more than the Rx diet. Recently my other cat who is on a Rx kidney diet has decided he doesn't like his kidney food anymore. So I mixed some of this in and now he eats all his food! My kittens will try to get to my older cats bowls to eat this if I let them. I have seen a couple reviews mention that this looks like a paste. I am not sure what that means as it looks like any other pate cat food to me. There is no extra gravy as mentioned in another review.

My cat loved this at first. But now I have found another wet food that she likes much better, so she's not as crazy about this food anymore. But she'll still eat it. No gravy to speak of. It's just kind of a pasty consistency, not the usual pate. Very difficult to open the cans, but that's not a big deal.

My cat loves this food. She's pretty picky. She does not get into pate, but if I serve her chunks in gravy, she just laps up the gravy and accidentally eats a few chunks along the way. There is no rhyme or reason to why she loves this food, but I'm thankful she does. Texture is almost a pate but with dense chunks and a bit more moist. I stir it up really well before she gets it and when I get home from work her plate is clean.
