Questions & Answers

26 Customer Questions

Is the top cover attached or does it just sit on top where the dog could push it up and jump out?
Answer by ChewyDec 07, 2017
This crate and gate is 4 sections attached together by small pins that allow it to be folded/unfolded to use as a fence. When it is shaped into the kennel, the plastic floor piece slides inside and the wooden top piece fits nicely on top. The lid doesn't have a locking mechanism to keep it in place.

Are the bars on this crate metal? Or plastic?
Answer by ChewyApr 09, 2018
This crate features steel bars.

my dog is a mixed terrier about 22 to 24 lbs will the small be ok?
Answer by ChewyOct 03, 2018
We suggest measuring your pet to find the most accurate size. Have your dog stand and measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail, then add 4 inches to find the length. Next, have your dog sit and measure from the top of the head to the floor, then add 4 inches to find the height.

What is the weight capacity for what can be kept on top of this crate? I’m intending on putting two units side by side and putting a TV on top.
Answer by ChewyJul 17, 2019
The weight capacity for the top of this crate is approximately 400 pounds.

Disappointing Purchase

Looks nice when assembled. Crate cannot be moved in whole without sides and door collapsing. The faux-wood top of the crate can be easily lifted off. My 24 lb Mini Aussie was able to lift the top off and climb out while we were away. I won’t consider putting any weight on top of it to prevent future breakouts as I fear any weight placed on top may collapse it onto my pup. Don’t waste your money on this.

Best Investment ever

My granddog needed a place to stay. I certainly did not want to have a wire cage in the house so I decided to go for this. THE Assembly was easy and the results were perfect.

Fancy crate for my fancy dog

My poodle just fit there and it is good quality enough to use as an end table in our living room. The finish is kind of rough however it is still decent.

Didnt last a month

We have 2 large size dogs which we bought one for each. One was able to break the bars overnight, so we ended up using it as a gate like it's advertised. The gate function lasted 1.5 weeks since the hinges are very weak, and the screws for the hinges are not long. It looks nice but not built to last.

beautiful and versatile

This is a great piece of functional furniture. Super easy to assemble, doesn't really need instructions. It comes with a tray, which is not pictured here, and that is helpful to have.

Nice looking but falls apart

I love the crate at first it's nice looking but overall it's cheapy. The crate falls apart over time. My small terrier dog was able to break the bar at the bottom so I had to glue it back on, the screws and tiny little hardware that holds the sides of the crates together fall apart and break off, so I had to use a cable tie to hold the corners together. I got this crate maybe 2 years ago so I've gotten my use out of it, just expected more.

Looks great but….

We bought this for our German Shepard puppy and it only took a week for her to chew through the wood at the bottom and loosen 2 of the bars which ultimately fell out so it’s useless. The latch on it is very flimsy as well. Expected something much sturdier since it’s obviously for a large dog. The customer service at Chewy is usually awesome but my husband hasn’t been able to get any assistance from them and no one has bothered to answer our many emails.

Looks amazing

Our young Bernese fit perfectly and the crate looks very nice amongst the rest of our furniture. Although I do agree with other reviews that this crate is not very sturdy or strong. I suggest something stronger if your dog is teething or will attempt to get out of the crate
