Nice crate but it's not 36 inches

By Cullen on Jun 18, 2020

The crate itself looks great and seems sturdy, so 5 stars for that. Very easy to put together. Only down side was the measurement posted on Chewy. It shows 36" on the size chart and diagram. But the tag on the crate says 37.375". I ordered the matching MidWest crate cover in 36" and it doesn't fit. I The crate itself looks great and seems sturdy, so 5 stars for that. I ordered the matching MidWest crate cover in 36" and it doesn't fit. I called Midwest to see if they had one that fits. Their rep said the cover doesn't fit Life Stages crates because they are a larger build than 36". I would have ordered a different MidWest crate model if I knew this one was over 37". Hopefully they will update the sizing chart soon. … more

Disappointed. Not adjustable enough, paint missing

By SGCMom on May 28, 2020

I did a lot of research before choosing this crate and I am disappointed in both it’s design and it’s condition. This crate is advertised as being appropriate for all ages by using the included divider. However with the double doors set up the way they are (side door is nearest to the end with the end door), it is impossible to make this crate small enough for a puppy. The divider will not hang on the door properly so it has to be put behind the door which makes a still massive area for a puppy (30x27) . The vertical bars under the door are not aligned with the bars on the door, therefore the bottom hook on the divider has nothing to hook to if you try to hang it on the door. The divider also leaves a significant gap along the bottom. It cannot be moved down further and there is easily enough room for a puppy to get a leg stuck under the divider. If you feed on the crate (and I do) and kibble spills under the divide I can certainly see a pup getting a leg wedged underneath trying to reach that kibble. I know someone else with two Midwest crates that do not have nearly as large of a gap. Her dividers can also hang on the door. I do not know if the door in the one I have is made poorly or if she just got lucky. In addition, there are multiple places with paint already missing, straight out of the box. I’m capable of touching up paint, but you shouldn’t have to on a brand new item. Aside from the missing paint the rest do the crate seems well constructed. The gauge of the wires is thick enough to feel sturdy and the doors operate well. It may be a good crate for an adult dog but due to poor door placements and design of the divider it is not useful for all Life Stages. Now I have a heavy item to figure out how to return and no crate for the puppy. Or I have to hold onto this one for six months and go buy another crate locally for the puppy stage. … more
