As soon as I took this bed out of the package, there was fuzz and lose fabric everywhere. Every morning I would wake up and my whole house would be covered in blue faux fur. I was constantly picking up fuzz from every corner in my house. I was so frustrated with it I thought maybe washing it would be good to catch all the lose fuzz, but it did not help the problem. I ended up having to throw the bed away because I did not want my dog to eat the fuzz. I have another dog bed from pets mart that was about the same cost and did not do this, so I thought buying this one from Chewy would be fine. Disappointed as the size of the bed fits perfect for my dog’s crate, but cannot use it. Waste of money :( Be careful before you purchase this bed.
Wonderful crate mat
I bought this crate mat & a crate mat from another supplier at about the same time. The OTHER mat actually loses fuzz so bad that it is like small tumbleweeds blowing across my den floor on a regular basis. After being laundered a few times in the washing machine the OTHER mat losing significant fuzz actually caused my washer to flood my porch (this has never happened in the 14 years we have lived here). I have laundered both mats separately each time & each mat has been laundered the same number of times. The MidWest crate mat does not seem to shed fuzz & I have not had any issues with it losing fuzz in the laundry either. Wonderful crate mat for the money! I will definitely buy this crate mat again!!!
Watch Out - this bed is unwashable
This bed looks nice and holds up until you wash it. I washed it right out of the package and was looking forward to it since it seemed nice. However, it coated my washer and dryer in faux fur from the bed. It also covered everything I was washing with it in fur. Since the fibers are synthetic, I did not want those small particles around me or my cat, or for him to possibly eat the sheddings, so I trashed the bed and everything I washed with it. Chewy customer service was so helpful!
Sizing is not accurate
The product is fine. However the sizing that is listed is inaccurate. I bought these for my dogs crates and the 22 inch one fit in my small crate. It was listed 22 x 13 and it really was 20 x 12 and said it was listed for a small dog. The 18 inch one was listed as a toy breed 18 x 12 and it was actually 16 x 12. The 30 inch one was listed for a medium 30 x 21 and actually was 29 x 21.
Good outside of a crate too
Purchased this mat because my 13-yo dog rejected every soft dog bed I bought. He prefers this bed (or just our low-pile rug). I have one in his bedroom, one on the back porch, and a third that fits nicely into the back of my Jeep Wrangler for trips to our camp. It is very lightweight and easy to move around so his bed can stay close to where I am, which reduces his anxiety. He often puts his paws and head on the bolster edging. He is about 50 lbs, lab mix, and the bed gives him plenty of room.
Very Cute and Soft
I bought this for my two 2 month old kittens Meeka and Ashie. When we first brought them home this was in the corner of the living room and they both used it for awhile until they became more comfortable with their new loving home. Now a month later they don’t use it much due to loving cuddles and a queen bed haha but it did it’s purpose and I was very pleased.
MidWest products never disappoint!
I have been a fan of MidWest products for over 35 years. I was a dog breeder, of Golden Retrievers, for 25 years. I really like these crate mates. The color is perfect, as it blends in with any decor in my home. I purchased two mats, one for the kitchen and another for the TV room. As I lifted the box to bring it inside, I thought to myself, well this is kinda heavy, for two thin crate mats, hmmm? As soon as I opened the box, I understood why. The bolsters are thick, 3 to 4 ". The bottom where my dog lays is probably 3/4 of an inch. Which I think is plenty for spring, summer, and fall months. For my Standard Poodle these are thick enough for year-round use, as he gets hot. Although the backing isn't slide-proof, it does have in each corner elastics that you can put the corners of the crate into. It also has two tabs on each of the short sides, but I'm not sure what they would attach to at this point. They look well made, wait, I'm going to wash one of them right now! Okay, I washed it on a 30-minute warm cycle. It dried in the dryer in 15 minutes! It came out looking great, and washing it took away that new fabric smell. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. I just wish I had ordered the 36-inch instead or the 42" as they are going on the floor and not in his crate.
Very happy with this purchase.
Its a great bed, my kitten loves it so much. Sometimes my rabbit likes to try to sleep in the bed, enzo doesn’t appreciate sharing though. Super happy with this purchase considering its comfortable (even for me), its a great price, the color i got is very appealing to the eye, my kitten loves it (+rabbit), and its super soft. Definitely buy this!!
Better than basic crate mat
I bought this to replace an old and many times washed similar designed crate pad. This MidWest mat is much better designed. First, the mat is quilted across the area that the dog will lay on - this is important as it will prevent the fill from shifting over time, especially if washed (this was the only reason for replacing my old pad - the inside was not quilted and the filling became lumpy). Second, this mat has elastic bands underneath at the four corners so, depending on how your crate is designed, the mat can be secured to the crate pan. If your wire crate does not have floor pan and the mat is placed directly on wire, the wire can be felt through the pad, so you will want something else either under the pad (which would be best as it would keep the wire from cutting into the pad over time), and/or another pad or blanket on top to cushion your dog. I actually bought two, but found I only needed to replace one crate pad, so the other is on the floor and the pups are happy using it there as well.
Comfortable and soft
We got this mat because it was advertised to perfectly fit our crate, which it did. The mat itself sheds a bit, which is no big deal because the dog sheds more. But our 7mo old German Shepherd absolutely obliterated this thing, twice. There are seams on the bottom for pups to get their teeth on and he pulled them apart and got the stuffing out. Because it gently lays on the crate and is not super snug, he was able to pull it out and whip it around. If you have a docile dog I would 10/10 recommend. Not for a chewer.
