I bought this to transport my 9 pound Italian greyhound to dog shows. On the first use, the door lock got jammed and I had to take the top off to get her out. Fixed the lock and it has been working fine. I also bought the wheel kit from Midwest so I could roll it into the shows. Today two plus months into owning it, I discovered a massive crack in the bottom half of the crate. This crate either sits in my garage or is in the back of my suv for transport. Has not been roughly handled at all. I have a 30 year old crate that I replaced with this because the door rattling was driving me crazy but it has been through multiple dogs, shows, moves and air line handling and has zero cracks. I guess they dont make them like they used to.
This crate has some new features that our other/older crate does not have. For example: the door is easier to open, assembly is easier with built-in clips instead of using extra large office clips, optional casters a good idea as well. I just wish the bottom inside surface wasn't smooth as the bedding slides around when we are in the car.
Crate was well designed, easy to assemble. Would recommend.
My standard poodle, Billy, has never used a kennel before. It took a while for him to get used to it but he likes his new house so far. I am not sure if the height is long enough for his height though. He gets in ok but has a but trouble getting out. I wish the interior was bigger. Other than that, easy assembly and quality material and we are satisfied.
I ordered this carrier for the specific reason of using it on an airline. I’ve got a ~40lb dog, so hauling her, luggage, and a giant carrier into an airport isn’t exactly practical. So, I was really excited to find a kennel with removable wheels and a handle so I could easily take her with me without throwing out my back or needing to bring my own wagon to haul everything. Unfortunately, it arrived damaged/defective. Part of the plastic mold was missing/broken, so the top didn’t actually fit correctly onto the bottom. Even with the plastic latches and the provided metal bolts, the front right corner was still visibly misaligned. Normally, this wouldn’t be too much of an issue, except that the entire door won’t latch because of it. Even trying to force it, the bottom metal peg doesn’t slot into the plastic hole to keep the door secure. No matter what, it just pops right open. Even with using zip ties to keep everything in place, I just worry about the structural integrity of the carrier and don’t feel like it’s safe to put my dog in. Thankfully, the customer service team was great and was able to refund me right away. But it’s just unfortunate that the quality control for a product that’s supposed to keep pets safe and secure wasn’t better.
I got this to replace her smaller puppy cage, which was also plastic. We haven't even had it two weeks when the top half cracked open and released the hound. I'm so disappointed
My precious pup outgrew his crate and I looked at several cost effective crates of the larger sizes. I chose the Skudo because it looked very nice and had several good features. It was so easy to put together, I did it myself. I even purchased the roller wheels which were also a snap to install. The price was right. My doge is very happy in his new crate with plenty of room to move around and stretch out.
The crate we owned prior to this one was very sturdy. This create is extremely cheap. Worse of all the gate is very difficult to close and seldom latches properly. Our 8 week old lab was able to break-out of it on the 2nd night. No way it will hold her at 80 lbs. Working on getting it returned. Clearly a safety concern for your pet.
This is a nice crate. We bought it for our frenchie and she really likes it :)
EVERYTHING is plastic. Everything seems cheaply made. The door mechanism is the most irritating door I have ever seen. Super bummed. Too hard to return.
