Over the years we have tried many pet gates. We have had two new puppies in the past year, so we had the chance to try a few new ones. This one is easily the best one I have ever had. Why do I say that? 1. It is 41" high - this is finally high enough to prevent our current puppy from jumping over it. 2. The opening is nice and wide. I find myself squeezing through the other gates, but this one is no problem. 3. It has no horizontal bars to give climbers a paw-hold. Our current pup is an amazing climber, so this is key. We have two other gates that she can just scramble right over (one has a cat door in it and the other some horizontal bars related to the (awful) hands-free opening mechanism). 4. It is very sturdy. The opening mechanism requires a lifting motion that is a bit tricky to get used to, but as a result, the locking mechanism engages at both top and bottom. This makes for a very secure lock that can withstand all the puppy energy (jumping and pushing on the gate). 5. The feet are rubber - not plastic. We don't want to ruin our woodwork by drilling into it and we thought the feet looked like plastic, so we got some wall nannies (also recommend!). It turns out the feet are rubber, so it wasn't really necessary, but they sure do stay put wonderfully with the wall nannies! 6. There is really nothing for a puppy to chew on. Our other gates have knobs or rubber foot pedals that tend to get chewed up by the little ones when we aren't looking.
This gate is newly installed. It was easy to put up with the tensioners holding it securely in place. My husband says it's well made and sturdy. But since the fasteners are plastic, my opinion is reserved as of yet. However, it looks nice and solved our problem. Only a very small animal could get through the bars.
This product works, but you have to get it set up first! Thankfully there is a video online (I think on YouTube) that demonstrates how it's done (because it is a little complicated, especially compared to a different gate we ordered for another purpose). Once it's set up, it's effective and easy to use. Overall, I would recommend this, but watch the video to make sure you're setting it up right!
The gate arrived very fast. It was easy to install. Much taller than we needed but as our 2 new pups grow the height might be a good thing. We previously had an old baby gate but we constantly were taking it down and up again. The new gate has a latch to open so people can pass through with ease, and it closes by itself!
I adopted a new cat, but my existing cat was not thrilled. The Humane Society's website suggested a pet gate so that they could see and smell each other while knowing the other cat couldn't get to them. After much deliberation, I picked this sturdy extra tall model. Both cats are large and good jumpers, so the extra height was a must. The gate installed easily; I wasn't planning to keep it up in the long term so I didn't bother with the cups. It stayed put just fine without them. It's sturdy, swings both ways, and latches automatically. Neither cat could figure out a way to open it or jump over. It took several weeks, but eventually the cats learned to tolerate each other enough to take the gate down. Now they're best friends!
Love how tall this gate is. We have an otterhound puppy and she's already about 4 feet tall when she stands on her haunches. While we're working on not doing that, this gate withstands her most enthusiastic attempts at leaping over or breaking through. I love the auto-closing mechanism especially, and it's quite attractive! Very high quality, easy to install. Great product!
This thing was easy to install and it works perfectly. This is the only gate you'll ever want or need for your indoor pets ! Bar none
Easy to install. I'm using it in a doorway I don't want my dog to go through but it allows my kittens to go through the bars. Working out great.
Assembly was very difficult and after installing I'm not impressed! I hope my puppy does not put all her weight on this if she ever tried to jump it would not hold. I have it screwed into the walls and the tension was so high I busted a hole in the drywall. This is the only tall steel walk thru dog gate that has additional extensions to fit it into a wider space. I guess it gets the job done and I will have to get a second one because the space I need tall gates in are wider than 39 inches.
Loving this gate so far I have it at the door into garage. The only problem is the door knob hits the gate so its very hard to close the door.
