  • Hard to put together- not very strong

    By on

As I opened the crate to assemble it, I had trouble lifting up the front panel - the locking links were caught on each other and intertwined with the separator panel - it was extremely difficult to get them undone - took about 20 minutes - and it was very frustrating. Midwest should revisit how they package the crates. I also purchased this crate as my dog had outgrown a previous, heavy duty stainless crate. I am disappointed in the quality of the metal used - it bends and flexes easily - thank goodness I don't have a frisky dog, otherwise this would be a problem.

  • love the cage , well built by wish it was wider

    By on

Love the Midwest cages and this one does not disappoint. They are always well built cages and this one is no different. The only thing I wish they would do is start building the cages a little wider for dogs . I love the height but your dog isn't always going to be standing in a cage but laying down more so I wish all companies would build the cages wider because even we humans love to spread out while sleeping and so do dogs . Other than that I would highly recommend this cage to anyone . I gave the four stars because it could be wider .happy purchasing!

  • Heavier duty than others, easier to close latches

    By on

I like the ease open, close - no funny hooks on the door that have to be lifted over parts of the frame and the latches are straight open/close - no extended parts that make you have to lift them all the way up to move left or right. Has little rubber things that roll - three on each short end of the cage - work nice, but they fall off easily. It is heavier than the 54 inch model I have from a different company, which I think will help its longevity. Cage came damaged, which made it harder to assemble.

Heaviest gauge wire crate i found. Easy setup. Super fast delivery. Great Price. Only complaint is the photo shows a 3 door crate if you look close, causing me to think the end door was on the right of the side door. Made my locating it more difficult as i needed the end door to the right of the side door for access to the removeable pan. It should be offered in a LH or RH configuration. Other than that i can highly recommend it for stationary situations. It is undersandably heavy for transportation for some people.

  • Sturdy Crate

Bought this for my 9 month old Pit puppy because he was chewing his way out of his heavy duty plastic crate. Very nice heavy duty cage. The bars are close together so he can't get his teeth around them, the coating on the crate seems like it should last, the crate tray is sturdy enough to withstand him jumping around on it. I like the fact that it has two doors, one on the side, the other on the end. I didn't think i would use the side door, but i have. The two sliding handles on the doors make it less likely he could bend the door and push his way out; they slide open quite easily. I would suggest a latch of some type to keep the latches from sliding open and the dog getting out. Although it's quite heavy, being able to fold it will make it easier to move around or store when not in use. I purchased the 42" crate with the idea that my 50 pound puppy would have room to grow, but i think the 36" would have been sufficient. Reasonable price for the quality of the cage. … more

  • Best crate ever

    By on

Excellent quality, double doors are great for exiting and entering, very popular with any animal lovers, I personally have two for my German Shepherd...crate is now nine years old and going strong. Just bought this one for our new Malinois/Shepherd baby boy...9 weeks old.

  • Best of what is out there

    By on

I liked the old style corner pin crates much better. However, unless you purchase a 54" crate the old style is not out there. ANYWHERE. This does seem to be the best of the "suitcase" style kennels. Wire gauge is heavier than most and it is easy to set up. The bottom tray appears to be a higher quality than I expected. Packaging leaves little to be desired. The first 48" crate I received was damaged and I returned it. The return process was effortless and smooth. What a treat to talk to a call center which actually appears to be based here in the states

  • Impressive for the price

    By on

We purchased the 48" for our 90 lb GSD. It is very easy to put together. The only issue I have is 2 of the aluminum bands that serve as hinges for the side to top connections were bent and will need to be fixed with pliers. Comparable crates were in the $200 range. I cannot give a review on durability as this arrived today.

  • Great crate for my pup.

    By on

This crate is the perfect size for my six month old golden retriever puppy. He has room to stretch out and be comfortable. Plenty of head room too. We've had the pup for two weeks and so far no accidents in his comfy bed. Crate is very sturdy.

  • Sturdy crate

I am very impressed with the Midwest Ultima crate. Received a rescue that was aggressive wanted no chance of her getting out with other dogs. This crate held her until she had time to adjust to new surroundings and calm down. She has been here 3 days and making remarkable progress.
