  • A long time spent looking for a well made crate.

    By on

I looked at so many crate reviews that I never want to read one again. I saw everything from pictures of crates pulled apart because the welding was on the wrong side to crate trays that broke in half. I found this crate by expanding my search online to several different sites. I came back to Chewy's site and purchased this one. Outside of buying a crate with one inch thick bars it is the most solid one on the market I could find right now. My 10 month old Lab mix digs at the tray with her claws and tries to bust out of the crate when she throws a tantrum. The tray has some scuffs and the bars have no damage at all. It looks and feels sturdy and I feel safe leaving her in there when I have to I looked at so many crate reviews that I never want to read one again. • Great kennel

    By on

We were a bit apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, but we didn't have any problems at all. It is well built, wasn't difficult to put together, only one small hole in the corner of the box, and our 90 lb Akita pup likes it and has room to grow. We knew it would take up quite a bit of space when it was set up and had to plan carefully, but we believe it is worth it.

  • Disappointed in quality!

    By on

I bought this crate because I have been please with MidWest crates in the past, plus we needed an extra strong crate this time. Evidently their quality control is not what it used to be. The top latch on the front is partially blocked from opening/closing and the weld looks weak. The side door has a large gap when locked shut. I only said I would recommend it because despite its faults, it seems to be the sturdiest crate out there for the money.

  • Perfect Crate

    By on

I love how easy it is to assemble, disassemble, clean, and safely hold my puppy. I got the intermediate size for a 3-month-old Shepard puppy who is definitely going to grow (and fast.) I am very happy with the quality of this crate.

  • Very pleased

    By on

Very sturdy crate. Teething puppy does chew on the bars but has done no damage to them. We use it for a 17 pound puppy that has a height of 17 inches, (paws to to top of back) and is 16.5 inches long. Perfect size for him. He can lay comfortably. move around adequately and sit up without having his head cramped by the upper bars. I do imagine that if a crate is still required when he is full grown, (22-30 lbs), that he will need a larger crate. I would buy another Midwest Pro. Easy enough to assemble. Too heavy for moving from house to the SUV for day trips.

  • Love this crate

This crate is very sturdy and escape proof. I had a different type before and my little Penny was able to open it and get out!

  • Quality but pricey

    By on

Very well made but not sure the extra $ was worth buying the high end version of the Midwest Crate.

  • Great crate

    By on

This crate is really durable. There's plenty of space for my 75 lb dog to move around. I don't have any concerns with her getting out of this one like she did in the past with other crates. Assembly is also very easy. Highly recommend!

  • Grows as puppy grows

    By on

I've bought a Midwest dog crate several years ago (2002) and the older model was better in that the gauge of metal wire was a lot lower (was a lot thicker). It was harder to put together because it had corner rods to weave the side and front (or back) panels together. This new crate I bought is made to fold flat in a jiffy. The gauge of wire used is significantly thicker than other foldable crates. Plus it has two doors. It also came with a removable divider so I can use it now for my Golden Retriever puppy, and the crate will grow with her.
