  • Really Nice Crate!!

    By on

I've got Newfs and own 6 crates. Our new Newf puppy is a boy who will grow to be quite large so I wanted a sturdy crate to keep in the house for him to sleep in and possibly be confined to if needed. It's always a worry to order something like this sight unseen but this was a good decision. It's a nice, strong crate that will be around for a long time. The only one I have that matches it in strength would be the steel crate I bought 30 years ago. Both are heavy so really can't be carried around even though this one came with handles. :) The crate opens and sets up just like all of my other suitcase fold crates. No mystery at all. If you buy this and have trouble setting it up step back and maybe check youtube for a video of opening a suitcase fold crate. It does come sort of clipped shut and the clip was tight enough that my husband had to open it (thoughts of shopping cart finger nippers!) but that's not a complaint - just an observation. I consider this to be a very good deal! I'm very happy! … more

  • defected cage

    By on

Ordered this cage twice due to it being defected as wires were not connected at the bottom left corner next to the gate. Cage is NOT heavy duty, latches are not aligned and have to be wiggled in order to be secured. This cage does however accommodate my 110 lb cane pup comfortably.

  • Terrible crate terrible customer

    By on

This crate came with parts and hinges bent to the extent that the side door could not be closed and latched. I spent an hour with hammer and other tools straightening the door hinges. Based on the condition of the crate when it arrived, I requested a discount. I was told by a sopervisor at Chewy.com/Petsmart that they would not discount the item. The supervisor went on to explain that the crate was a high value item and that they would repackage and re-sell. It’s going back and I’ll buy another crate from another vendor. This is 60 pound crate that I have to repackage and return so that another customer can get the benefit of my makeshift repairs, I guess.

  • Hard to put together- not very strong

    By on

As I opened the crate to assemble it, I had trouble lifting up the front panel - the locking links were caught on each other and intertwined with the separator panel - it was extremely difficult to get them undone - took about 20 minutes - and it was very frustrating. Midwest should revisit how they package the crates. I also purchased this crate as my dog had outgrown a previous, heavy duty stainless crate. I am disappointed in the quality of the metal used - it bends and flexes easily - thank goodness I don't have a frisky dog, otherwise this would be a problem.

  • love the cage , well built by wish it was wider

    By on

Love the Midwest cages and this one does not disappoint. They are always well built cages and this one is no different. The only thing I wish they would do is start building the cages a little wider for dogs . I love the height but your dog isn't always going to be standing in a cage but laying down more so I wish all companies would build the cages wider because even we humans love to spread out while sleeping and so do dogs . Other than that I would highly recommend this cage to anyone . I gave the four stars because it could be wider .happy purchasing!

  • Sturdy Crate

Bought this for my 9 month old Pit puppy because he was chewing his way out of his heavy duty plastic crate. Very nice heavy duty cage. The bars are close together so he can't get his teeth around them, the coating on the crate seems like it should last, the crate tray is sturdy enough to withstand him jumping around on it. I like the fact that it has two doors, one on the side, the other on the end. I didn't think i would use the side door, but i have. The two sliding handles on the doors make it less likely he could bend the door and push his way out; they slide open quite easily. I would suggest a latch of some type to keep the latches from sliding open and the dog getting out. Although it's quite heavy, being able to fold it will make it easier to move around or store when not in use. I purchased the 42" crate with the idea that my 50 pound puppy would have room to grow, but i think the 36" would have been sufficient. Reasonable price for the quality of the cage. … more

  • Trooper's New Home

Heaviest gauge wire crate i found. Easy setup. Super fast delivery. Great Price. Only complaint is the photo shows a 3 door crate if you look close, causing me to think the end door was on the right of the side door. Made my locating it more difficult as i needed the end door to the right of the side door for access to the removeable pan. It should be offered in a LH or RH configuration. Other than that i can highly recommend it for stationary situations. It is undersandably heavy for transportation for some people.

  • Really AWESOME!!

Our large dog loves it and it has more roomy for him to move around while we were gone for a couple of hours! And also love to have crate with two doors, which it gives us an options to use.

I have an extremely high energy dog but this crate seems to be up for the challenge! It is very heavy but easy to put everything in place.
