Instructions
- Choose a Location: Place your Mighty Paw Tinkle Bells on, or near, the door handle where your dog exits to go “Tinkle”. Keep in mind that dogs typically use their nose or their paw to ring the bells once trained.
- Form a Connection: Each time you let your dog out to go to the bathroom, reach down and ring the bells. Choose a phrase to accompany this, such as “Tinkle Time!”. Immediately let your dog out. Repeat this each time until your dog connects ringing the bells with being let out to go to the bathroom.
- Reinforce with Praise: Praise and/or give a treat only when “Tinkle Time” was a success. Your dog should associate the bells with bathroom time only. Consistency is key. Do not reward if your dog rings the bell simply to be let outside.
FAQ
My dog seems scared of the bells. What do I do?
This is most commonly because the bells are too loud for the dog. We recommend removing 2 of the 3 sets of jingle bells to “quiet” the sound. Gradually expose your dog to the bell by lightly ringing the bell when let out for potty time. As your dog adjusts to the sound gradually add the jingle bells back so that you can hear the ringing of the bells from other rooms of the house.
Will tinkle bells work for small dog breeds?
Yes. Using a standard height door handle the Tinkle Bells hang approximately 9-10 inches from the floor. However if you decide you would like the Tinkle Bells closer to the floor you can use the free wall hook included with your purchase.
How long does it take before my dog uses the tinkle bells consistently?
Most dogs start to grasp the concept within a few days to a week. However this varies from dog to dog. Some dogs it can take a couple of months. Remember consistency is key. The more consistent you are with the training the faster your dog will learn to communicate.
How old does my dog need to be to begin tinkle bell training?
We recommend 3-4 months old to initiate the training program. This is usually old enough to understand the concept of the training program. Remember young puppies are energetic and playful. Stay consistent with praise only when potty time is achieved (not play time).
Can older dogs be taught to use tinkle bells?
Yes. Tinkle Bells are perfect for older dogs as well.

Training bells
Love the training bells on leather strap. Well made and hope to get great results!!!!
Works a little TOO well.
Bought two sets of these to aid in house training our new puppy. Turns out our puppy is smarter than we are. And he’s manipulative. Now the tinkle bells aren’t just for #1 and #2, they’re also used when he wants to eat grass, chew mulch, watch birds, watch traffic, when it’s 2pm-ish, after breakfast, after dinner, when the mailman comes, when the wind blows, 5 mins after having just returned inside. He has us trained very well.

Terrible cheap quality
I made the mistake of not reading the other reviews. That will teach me, but seriously I figured how can you mess up a leather tinkle bell? Well, they did. It is so cheap and thin, I’m not even sure that it is really leather at all. Seriously disappointed that I wasted my money on this product. Buyer beware...
Cheap. Will break easily
I bought the leather one because my dog chewed through the old nylon one we had. She literally broke it the first time she rang the bell with her paw. It's very thin and terrible quality.
Poor quality
"Premium leather" is definitely way off base. As a matter of fact I have serious doubts if this thing is leather or not. It looks like imitation leather or bonded leather at best. It is not heavy enough to even hang straight on the door which is why I purchased the leather one in the first place. I ordered two, and two of the bells on one were bent so badly the ball inside them had come out so they no longer "ring". I would have prefered a heavy nylon one to this. As to how well they work I can't tell you as we have had only a few days and we are still in the training phase.
Love this bell
I had been looking for a bell for my dog for a while, but most of them are so ugly or obnoxious. This one is a little nicer/classier and I don't mind having it hanging on my front door. I was able to bell train my 4 month old puppy in one day by just tapping it with my hand every time we went outside to go potty. She rings it WAY too much when she's bored, but hey-at least she isn't peeing on my floor anymore!
