This feed is really nice, and looks to be very high quality with lots grains and seeds. My only complaint is that it doesn’t ferment well, but I am not sure why? It just never gets that “yogurt-like” smell, and the girls did not like it at all. Anyone have any thoughts? I was hoping to find a good-quality, organic feed that I could both use dry and fermented, so I am not sure what to try next.
Switched from the plain pelleted food from Modesto to this one. Usually takes our chix 5 weeks to go through a bag- they went through this in less than 3 weeks and it seems that a lot was wasted. This might be a better scratch feed.
My girls and roo have decided this is their favorite food of all time!
I use this feed to ferment for my girls. They LOVE it. They would hardly eat the pellets dry, but once you've fermented the feed for 3 days with just some water in a closed container, they go crazy for it, and it's good for them
We got our pullets 2 weeks ago & they go nuts over this feed! I have given it to them dry, soaked, & fermented. I am now continuously giving it to them fermented in a tube feeder & we have zero waste. I am grateful to have found an organic feed that is soy free. I have removed one star because of price. It is so expensive, but I will continue to buy. For now.
So at first I had the same issue with my chickens kicking the feed everywhere in order to pick out the seeds and leave the pellets. I ended up making an automatic feeder out of pvc that prevented them from kicking it out and now they happily eat it all with no waste. Since then my chickens have been laying daily almost consistently. They are happy and healthy. My cross beak chicken has even been catching up in size with the others. If it weren't for the price I would give 5 stars.
My hens will not eat the pellets! What a waste. Even worse I forgot to cancel my auto ship and now I’m getting another bag
All seven stopped laying for over a week. I switched to a different food and they started producing again
I was so excited to see how my girls took to this feed but sadly the bag was mostly wasted. they eat everything but the pellets. So much waste. I was so sad- it seems like a wonderful feed, smells nice, not dusty but my girls hate the pellets.
