Mr. Peanut's Gold Series Expandable Airline-Approved Dog & Cat Carrier

My boy Walden has never been on a flight before, let alone in cargo. Next year we're moving to Australia which means he'll have to be in cargo with no air flying experience on a 19+ hour flight! To get him a little more used to it, I decided to take a few flights with him under the seat with me in the cabin. I absolutely loved how cute this carrier was online, and it's JUST AS CUTE IN PERSON (seriously, when does that ever happen?). He's a 20 pounder or so (maybe 19ish at the moment) and long, so I was a bit worried he wouldn't fit in it, but absolutely no issues even though it's a slight bit cramped. I measured and the carrier itself is about 17" long, and from my research, most Southwest flights have an under seat size of 17.5", so fingers crossed, but either way I think he'll be comfy. … more

A lot of thought went into making this bag, especially with the expansion. I had an issue with a zipper and contacted Mr. Peanut directly. They have the most excellent customer service I have ever experienced with a company and because of that I recommend their bags to everyone!

It looks nice on the outside, but the zippers for the expandable part are difficult to manage. the webbing makes it difficult to see your cat more than other mesh carriers. The top opening is just big enough for my 8lb cat, but probably wouldn’t work for a bigger cat. But it’ll still work well for the airplane and everything closes securely.

Good solid carrier. Sturdy and well made. It’s a little smaller than the dimensions given - an inch on the length and about a 1/2 inch on the height and width. My large cat (13 lbs) just fits. Okay for taking him to the vet, but not sure on longer trips. The expansion part is nice but it can’t be open while carrying. For a smaller cat or dog, it would serve well on a plane but with how big my guy is, I wouldn’t want him confined to such a small space for that long.

While I haven’t used it as yet, it appears it will work really well for my jack Russell Pearl

This is a very well constructed case. Just be sure to check size of case vs size of puppy

I bought this carrier after looking at a LOT of carriers online, watching videos, reading reviews, everything. I'm a new pet owner so I am doing my research before I purchase anything. I bought this for my two small kittens (about four months old) and they both had plenty of room on a 12-hour car trip. I loved it because I could expand the side of it and give them more room to stretch out, even when strapped in with a seatbelt. The best part, for me, was all the zippers. It allowed me to pop my hand in and pet them while I was driving which helped soothe them... and me, let's be honest. I felt good knowing my kittens would be comfortable on such a long trip. My kittens love this carrier so much! It’s so nice and it’s good looking too! I leave it around the house and they love to play in it or sleep in it. They love chewing on the zippers and other parts of the carrier and so far it’s held up, even with their sharp kitten teeth. I would not recommend putting two cats in there at a time. I have 2 kittens and one adult and the kittens can fit just fine together but when they get older they won’t be able to. It’s nice because where I live it gets very sunny and hot in the summer so having a flap at the top is nice so the sun can stay out of their eyes. The lining on the inside is really nice! Definitely would buy again!

After doing much research and reading many reviews for this and others, I was Ultimately disappointed. When the flap is left open, the top is so flexible that it collapses. Then the puppy wouldn't go in. And when she finally did (I put her in), this 2 pound puppy with tiny teeth was able to calmly chew a nickel size hole in the mesh within a few minutes. Also, the expandable side (there is only 1) doesn't support itself and it doesn't stand up fully, so no tiny dog would want to go into that part! NG

I measured the carrier upon arrive all, and all measurements were shorter by more than an inch on all sides, resulting in the carrier being too small for my cat. My cat is very large at 15.5 pounds and thin, so he has a lot of height and length, but he would have had just enough room if the measurements were accurate. Returned. Chewy was very helpful with the return! Disappointed in the product, I had my eye on it for awhile.
