To start, please place neck of harness and fasten it on your blind dog at the back of the head behind the ears. Do not place it any further back. Then fasten it around the girth area. Harness needs to be a snug fit, not loose.
-
Insert halo ends into silver holes in front of the wing. The ends of halo must be oriented face down in the back of the wing.
-
Wrap halo ends completely with fuzzy fastener strips in the back of wing (like a bandage around a finger). This will hold it sturdily in place.
-
When placing the wing on the harness neck portion, please open U of wing neck wide to make sure both the hard fuzzy fastener on the wing and soft fuzzy fastener on the harness collar connect completely. There must be no gaps between the wing and harness. The wing needs to be placed right at the back of the dog's head (like a propped-up pillow).
-
When the wing is in place, the halo in front should be straight across/ahead at upper eye level (like a visor). The halo is flexible to adjust. If you wish to have the halo more rounded, please stand over your dog and place your hands on both sides of halo and pull outward to round it out. If you wish to make the halo more narrow, simply push in the halo on the sides.
If the vest starts to slide, please put a T-shirt or sweater on you blind dog underneath the vest to hold it snugly in place.
For the wing and harness, wash in a cold water, delicate cycle or hand wash and lay flat to dry. Do not use any bleach. Do not put in the dryer. Clean the halo part with a damp cloth.
To get the most accurate harness size for your furry best friend, match the below measurements as closely as possible to your pal's measurements using the Printable Measuring Tape on this page.
Chest Girth: Measure around the widest part of your dog’s torso, right behind the front legs. Leave room for two fingers to ensure comfort.
Neck Circumference: Harnesses sit lower on the neck than collars, so measure around lower part of the dog’s neck. Leave room for two fingers to ensure comfort.
Profile: Measure from the tip of the nose to the back of the head, straight across and just a little passed behind the ears.
If your pet falls in between two sizes, we recommended purchasing the larger size.
Size | Chest Girth | Neck Circumference | Profile |
---|---|---|---|
X-Small | 10.5 to 13.5 inches | 8 to 9.5 inches | 5 to 6 inches |
Small | 14 to 16.5 inches | 10 to 11.5 inches | 5 to 6 inches |
Medium | 17 to 20 inches | 11.5 to 13 inches | 6.5 to 8.5 inches |
Large | 20.5 to 23.5 inches | 12.5 to 14 inches | 7.5 to 8.5 inches |

Saving My Pup’s Nose
By Piper on Oct 24, 2020
My sweet 15 year pup is blind and deaf but still enjoys walks, sniffs everything, rolls in the grass, loves a good meal. This harness really saves her face and lets her be more mobile without banging around the house. For reference she is a 20lb Boston Terrier and is wearing a medium.

Has Changed My Blind Girl’s Life!
By CockerMom on Jun 25, 2020
My 10 year old blind and deaf girl has spent her life waking around with her head down. This has not only affected her confidence, but her posture and spine too. The second I put the Muffin’s halo on her, she perked up. She now walks around with her head held high and extra bounce in her step. She feels safe and can now navigate the world with confidence. She has 3 Muffin’s Halos now so she can be fancy for different occasions.

Does exactly what it needs to do, but.......
By Arlynn on May 19, 2020
It's very difficult to get the "wings" on straight and centered. So my dog walks around with the halo tipping to one side or the other. I find I don't put it on because it doesn't go on right. I will say the materials are quality. Maybe a little pricey. Once I do put it on, lopsided, my dog adapted to it quite quickly

A real confidence builder!
By Gaby on Jan 14, 2020
We bought this “Halo” for our suddenly blind 15 yr old pup. It’s hard to have confidence when you are bumping your head into walls, furniture, doors etc. This has been a lifesaver and security vest for him as he went totally blind within a month. He now bumps off everything without hurting his head. We call him our little “Roomba” and we are so happy that he is learning to navigate his way around the house.

Life Saving
By Oliver on Dec 26, 2019
Oliver has been blind for a little over 3 years now. My cousin told me about Muffin’s Halos for Blind Dogs and Silvie has transformed Oliver’s Life. Oliver was in a sensory deprivation experiment and had over years with his friend Nobu and lots of love overcome lots of anxieties. Then he went blind... I was so lucky to find Muffin’s Halo!! My cousin and an Angel Sochi. He just made his 3rd appearance in Muffins Halos for Blind Digs which helps so many pups! He’s now 15, has gone through 2 moves while blind and is climbing hills and adjusting to snow!

Not for us
By NomaDamoN on Nov 20, 2019
This device does not work for my dog... She's blind because she's old and she also has collapsing trachea which means that I can't secure the device on her tightly enough to make it work. Instead, it shifts to one side or the other only protecting one side of her head, leaving the middle and other side exposed to getting knocked.

Just did not work for us
By Andy on Oct 30, 2019
My beloved dog has brain cancer and is now blind and deaf. Because of the cancer, he is like the everready bunny in constant motion (the clinical term for this is circling) and is constantly bouncing off the walls. He now has a unibrow scab that will not heal and I thought this might help. The first time i tried the halo was a disaster. To see "x" lying on the floor shaking was heartbreaking and I immediately took it off. I contacted the inventor, who is very nice and helpful. She suggested that I put him in a corner with the halo on and allow him to run into things and then give him a treat to show him the halo is a good thing, that it protects him. I finally got him to stand up and walk My beloved dog has brain cancer and is now blind and deaf. She suggested that I put him in a corner with the halo on and allow him to run into things and then give him a treat to show him the halo is a good thing, that it protects him. I finally got him to stand up and walk around. When he fell over he still had trouble getting but he gradually adapted. I left it on him when he went too bed. This was probably a mistake, but he gets up and circles at night. When I came down and found him laying in a corner covered in pee and poop, that was too much. I bathed him, cleaned up the mess, washed the halo and allowed it to dry. When I put it back on him, he would lay there and shake and not try to get up. At this point, I decided this product was not for us. If blindness were the only issue and he was younger (he is 14), maybe it would work. But with all his problems, I was not going to put him through any further torture. … more

My schnauzer went blind due to SARDs and this halo is working great for her to navigate around the house and not bump her head or nose. It came with two halos to find the right size for her!

My 11 year old dachshund was recently diagnosed with SARDS... he is totally blind and started bumping into things so I bit the bullet and bought this for him since the reviews are better than the others similar to this.
