I really like these because they are tall and stay on. They get very wet though, and I have to dry them out after every use. I do wish that someone would make dog booties that zipped up instead of me, having to shove his foot in all the way in. And I do kind of wish these had a rougher, tougher sole. But overall these are the first boots I got that stayed on my pup and protected his little pawsies.
My Morgan, a 40 pound Cockapoo, has been using these for years. This brand, and this model. If you measure your dog's paws accurately, and secure the Velcro properly, tight, but not blood stopping, they will not fall off. The measuring guide is very accurate. The suede bottoms, are very sturdy, more so than any rubber or latex, or whatever you will find on others. The sock top keeps the snow from going into the boot. In Chicagoland winters, these have saved his paws, from the salted streets, and the sub O temperatures. How did I get him to wear them? So easy. I did not give him a chance to hate them. I put them on, after I was ready, and his coat was on, right before we walked out the door. He took about 4 wompy steps, and away he went. That was years ago. One set has lasted him almost a decade, and with this cold start to the winter, I wanted an extra set. The first set I purchased years ago, I ordered from the company itself, in Canada. They weren't available here yet. Chewy has a much better price, and of course fast shipping. Between these boots, and my ice cleats, our winter walks are almost as long as our summer walks.
I was sooo excited when I first opened these because I finally found something that fit my largest boy's big feet. His are about 4.5 - 5" across the front paws and I got size 10, XXL. The booties have suede bottoms and leather toes with a soft shell material above it on the top of the foot. The ankle/leg part is nice and goes up over the leg to help hold them on. The velcro is thin and feels like it might snap or tear if the bootie slid down during some heavy running. There's no where for the excess velcro to go either once tightened. Not a big deal on the front feet but on the back feet there was a good 3" of velcro hanging off once tightened. The main reason these didn't work for me was because they kept sliding down on the back feet and flipping over. The back feet are smaller and don't have that toe higher up on the ankle (not the dewclaw, but the actual toe...the carpal pad). So the shoes stay on the front feet pretty well but slide down on the back feet, flop around and flip under so the dog is stepping on the wrong side. I took a video to show everything better with all booties on (he's only wearing the front 2 in the photo) but it only let me upload pictures 😞. Overall pretty nice but I wish they made bigger ones with rubber bottoms. I also ordered the rubber bottom version of the same brand in the same size but it's smaller. More accurate for the size chart and how to measure the dogs foot but I read how big this version runs so I had hopes of this being the answer for me. The nice part about the rubber version is they sell them in 2's instead of 4's. It was actually the only reason the other version rated so low, no one read it only came with 2. But it would provide a better fit....the front feet are bigger so it would allow for better sizing if they split these as they did for the other style.
Chewy was so good about helping me with exchanging for size (I watched the youtube on how to measure correctly, but still do not think I have it correct). These booties lasted 10 minutes. That said, I do think they are a good product, but I'm not convinced I have the correct size (despite Chewy's help, it is just very challenging to figure out for each individual dog). My dog did not mind them once they were on and the high "sock" helps with snow getting in.
These shoes did not last long. They immediately started to wear and now there is a hole in one of them so they are useless. I would not purchase those again. I only had them for a month.
We’ve purchased a couple different snow boots for our dogs and these have held up very well during the arctic snow storm! They are waterproof and have a Velcro strap that wraps around to keep the shoes in place. The strap for my large sized paw dogs is between the hock and the paw. What I really liked is the sleeves on these shoes roll up higher and above the hock.
We needed a boot for winter for our girl. Neighbors would salt walkways. Purchased these boots and were happy with results. I saw reviews. If boots are not put on correctly and Velcro not pulled tight, boot can and will come off. Without boots, our girl would get ice balls and the mushers paste only worked for a short time. Our girl used boots for 5+ years.
There are some serious design flaws in these boots. The cuff fills with snow and then holds it there keeping your poor pup's ankles cold. But worse is they tend to rotate around and the top is not a very sturdy fabric that rips when it's in the upside-down position. Our set only lasted a few days into our first winter storm!
Great my grand dog lives in Colorado so these are needed but my daughter says they are to big so I'll have to order smaller ones
I love then however they are to large. I think my dogs will love them I must return and reorder.
