Mycophenolate Mofetil is a medication prescribed to suppress the immune system for the treatment of several different diseases, inflammation of the kidney, muscle fatigue, inflammatory bowel disease (IBS) and various autoimmune diseases. It's most commonly used in the cases of transplants and autoimmune disorders, where the body produces antibodies against itself. Veterinarians may use this medication to treat companion animals. Customers may receive this drug under the names CellCept, Cellmune, Imuxgen.

Indicated for the treatment of multiple conditions and disorders that would benefit from immune-system suppression, such as inflammation of the kidney, muscle fatigue, inflammatory bowel disease (IBS) and various autoimmune diseases; it also may be prescribed to prevent organ donation rejection.

Possible Side Effects

Gastrointestinal effects, such as diarrhea, vomiting and anorexia, are the most likely negative effects and can be severe. If diarrhea persists or is severe, contact your veterinarian.

Drug & Food Interactions

Report any other drugs your pet may be taking before starting this drug; interactions may occur.

Do not use in pets with documented hypersensitivity reactions to mycophenolate. Pets with severe renal dysfunction may require dosage adjustment. Because MMF can cause diarrhea, use with caution in pets with inflammatory bowel disease. Because of concerns that this drug can cause birth defects, the manufacturer recommends that tablets or capsules not be crushed, split, or opened.

This drug is FDA-approved for human use. However, it is common practice for veterinarians to prescribe such drugs for use in dogs and cats.

NOTE: For Generic Medications, picture displayed may not depict actual product. Generic medications may vary from one order to the next by size, color and shape depending on manufacturer.

Our dog needs these pills for his auto immune disease and the pharmacy just upped the perscription again! It was just too much money. We couldn't afford them anymore more. Then the next day we got the email that chewy was selling perscriptions! And they had the ones we needed! It was incredible! And so affordable. A 90 day supply, cheaper than what the pharmacy was going to charge us for only 30!
