Measure the width of the opening where your gate will be used.
While holding the gate with the locking bar toward you (numbers will be upright), lift the locking bar and slide the locking pin into the slot that matches the opening size.
Push down on the locking bar. This should put pressure on the 4 rubber bumpers holding the gate in place. If the gate is still loose in the opening, move the locking pin to the next slot until you get a good, solid fit in the opening. Do not force the locking bar down. This could put too much pressure on the gate, causing damage to your opening, the gate, or both. (The locking bar will have a slight bow. However, if the bow is large, ease off one slot, making sure it still has a good, solid hold in the opening).
To open the gate, simply pull up on the locking bar.
Purchased this because we have a blind pug. He walks down the hardwood floors early in the morning and if we don’t get up and track him he will fall down the stairs because he is blind. This gate blocker is excellent and easy to set up. He will come down the floor and when he gets to the gate he stops and waits for us to release the gate and let him outside to do his morning rest stop! Pug weighs 22 lbs and he stops each time waiting now for us to release the gate.
Wide Cat Gate

We like the gate very much. It's firm, attractive, and the cats walk right by it. They don't attempt to jump over it. They don't even look at it. It arrived in 2 days. The price was great ($28) especially compared to gates online. I would like a gate to open to walk through, but the ones available were not wide enough. We needed 44 inches. This one is great - very happy with it.

I need to contain my neurotic dog at night and have a 44" width through kitchen. This is a typical wooden gate with larger measurements. I had no problem getting it to stay firm despite a wall grate on one side. Unfortunately she can easily jump over it (30 lb dog) so I piled chairs and stools in front to make a 40 inch height plus obstacles. 2 AM she easily cleared the entire thing, but I think a "normal" dog wouldn't do that. At any rate, she has gotten the idea and I haven't needed to use it since, altho that will change with the first storm. but at least it was a small outlay and does what it's supposed to do.

The gate is very difficult to use. We bought it because we needed to cover an extra-wide space and getting the gate to open that wide is tricky. The dog is also able to knock it down if he tries hard enough. It is too stiff to use but not strong enough to hold back the pressure of an insistent dog.

This gate is taller than most and it fits really tightly in the opening where I planned to use it. It was a good purchase. Plus it arrived very quickly. I ordered on a Saturday and got it on Tuesday without paying extra shipping!

I am able to use this gate only because I’m able to prop it up. Otherwise I would have returned it. The wood is flimsy and the gage system that it has is terrible. It won’t stay extended in order for it to stay properly secure to the wall. Do not buy, it’s worth it to pay the extra few dollars to get a nicer gate that works.
Gate is great! Fits my wide door perfectly

Searched for a gate that was larger than 44" and Chewy had it and delivered it quickly to meet my needs.
Easy and Effective

I just brought home two rescue bullies, and I needed to block a couple of areas, so I bought two of these. The markings on the wooden connection pieces are clear and deep - I highlighted the fitting I use, so put up and take down are fast and smooth. I started with the gates elevated about 4", so my cats could quickly sneak under. However, my 30-pound pit mix squashed herself through - with a big grin at her accomplishment! For a bigger dog, though, raising it up is a nice option.
