The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.
Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.
For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.
Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!
When switching your dog's diet, the change should be made gradually by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® Lamb Meal & Brown Rice Small Breed Bites® Dry Dog Food. The change should be completed after 5 - 7 days. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your dog's health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your dog.

Natural Balance rescued my rescue!!
By JayEss on Dec 21, 2018
We got a super GI sensitive rescue shih tzu mix...throwing up and all kinds of issues at least once a week. We tried EVERYTHING under the sun to help him for about 6 months, even cooking plain chicken and rice to no avail. I picked this up as "the next thing to try" and that was it. No more problems, and he loves it! We are going strong using only this for a few years now. Happy, healthy little guy, thanks to this food. Highly recommend!

She loves it!
By Sophie on Jan 21, 2019
My Lhasa Apso loves this kibble and eats every last bit of it. She seems to be biting her paws less so I think it is helping with her food allergies. So glad we made the switch.

One of a very few with the best ingredients and PROPER amount of PROTIEN
By RodgerMorales on Oct 30, 2018
I'm a retired dog breeder of very high quality West Highland White Terriers, as well a larger breeds, and I highly recommend this food! I was involved in the breeding of Westies for over 30 years, I also developed a highly acclaimed, award winning website which dealt with not only Westies, but medical issues, shin conditions, studies on what it takes for a "Family Dog" to be healthy, happy and live a robust life. One of the main things I totally DISAGREE with, as does all intelligent breeders, is the fact that a normal, "Family Dog", of any breed, should not be fed any food that contains over a MAXIMUM OF 23% PROTEIN! Your dog (normal house type dog) has no need for more protein than I'm a retired dog breeder of very high quality West Highland White Terriers, as well a larger breeds, and I highly recommend this food! Your dog (normal house type dog) has no need for more protein than that! The protein % of this food is and has always been 21%, which is the proper amount and the brown rice provides the correct amount of "slow metabolizing" carbs. Higher protein food is ONLY NEEDED BY YOUR DOG IF, HE OR SHE IS A "WORKING" DOG! An example of a working dog would be one who is working (running and such) cattle or sheep, all or most of the day. The ads that state their dog food is geared to the needs of Wolves and such are pushing these extremely high protein food to MAKE YOU BELIEVE your dog will be better-off on this type diet. ABSOLUTELY NOT SO! Your dog is most likely, NOT A HARD WORKING DOG NOR A WOLF, WHO IS CONSTANTLY HUNTING DOWN HIS NEXT MEAL! One of the reasons dogs develop an "ITCHING PROBLEM" is being feed TOO MUCH PROTEIN! THEY SHOULD NOT BE FED THESE HIGH PROTEIN LEVELS! IT SURLY CAN CAUSE ISSUES. I, still at this very moment, have as my personal pet, one of our past breeding Westies who is a great, great, great, grandmother (as of last Spring)! Her name is Brinka, She was born 7/16/04, which makes her 14 years, 3 months old. She has never had any medical issues, no skin problems, and no weight problems (although I control her caloric intake, to keep her "fit"). People she meets, tend to think she is 4-6 years of age! She has eaten this exact same food for 11-12 years. I believe, it was around 2006-7 or so I discovered this food during an in-depth, study of dog food. After a concluding my study, our entire line of 5 breeding females and two "stud" males were placed on it. I determined it was the best for their health and they loved it! Do your dog a massive favor, STAY AWAY FORM THOSE HIGH PROTEIN FOODS! Rodger Morales 10/30/18 … more

2 picky cairn terriers love this stuff!
By Cheryl on Aug 7, 2018
My terriers just love this food! One was getting little sores and the vet said she had an allergy to her food. She recommended Limited Ingredient and they have had no problems since. The little life's size is just perfect for them and they love the lamb flavor. They are 11 & 12 years old now, but certainly don't act like it. It is a bit pricey, but cheaper than a vet and their wellbeing makes it worthwhile. No hassle nor worries on my part. 2 happy furbabies and 1 happy furbaby mom!!

Good for Sensitive Stomachs
By Schnickelfritz on Mar 26, 2018
My 3 year old rescue pup Fritz has a condition called Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) wherein his pancreas no longer produces enzymes to digest starches, proteins, and fats in his food, causing many not-so-pleasant symptoms. He eats medicine - powdered porcine pancreas - with every meal, but I have found that he is able to digest certain food brands better than others. After a lot of trial and error, I now buy Natural Balance LID Small Breed Bites exclusively.
