The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight, breed, temperature, climate and activity level of your dog. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations.
Adult dogs should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diet Dry Dog Food, we suggest starting with the amounts recommended in the table. Energy requirements vary with environmental conditions, temperature and activity of your dog. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your dog's needs.
For pregnant females: A minimal increase is needed during the first 6 weeks. Increase the amount fed up to 25% during weeks 7, 8, and 9. For lactating females: Immediately after whelping, the nutritional demand increases by 50% compared to maintenance levels. Feed in 3 equal meals per day. For working dogs: Based on the work your dog will be asked to perform, the nutritional requirements will vary accordingly. As the workload increases, the demand for protein and fat increases proportionally. Dogs in hard training will generally require twice the maintenance levels. For older dogs: As your dog begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for a less active dog.
Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!
When switching your dog's diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 5-7 day period.

By Betty on Apr 2, 2021
We used to love this brand but it has changed size & formula over the past 3 months. My dog had issues digesting and dry scalp.

First experience with new food
By Kathy on Dec 2, 2020
Natural Balance is new to me. This was recommended by a friend who has podencos (a Spanish dog), since I was adopting one who is 10 years old. My little 10-year-old Spanish lady has been on this food since day 1 of arriving here in the U.S., and she absolutely LOVES it! I also have the Natural Balance wet food to add to it, since she is underweight. The best part....I didn't have to run around all over the place looking for this special food! Looking forward to her gaining weight and sporting a perfect coat! Thanks Chewy.com !

Dogs liked it.
By Brad on Jan 8, 2021
Dogs liked it, personnally think it was a bit pricey. Found a less expensive brand that is grain free and accomplishes the same thing, has both salmon and White fish and dogs seem to like it as much as the more expensive choice.

Kibble Recently Doubled in Size, No Longer Safe for Small Breeds
By Fred on Dec 2, 2020
Our French Bulldog, Fred, was very happy with this kibble for the past year or two. In the last few months, however, Natural Balance doubled the size of the kibble and now Fred regurgitates the food almost every time he tries to eat it. We specifically sought this kibble out because it is labeled as "Small Breed Bites" and are very confused why they would abruptly change the size. There was no warning about this change and now we're stuck trying to find new food for Fred. Please let us know if you go back to the old kibble - it was much better!

"New & Improved"...for who?
By ChewyFan1 on Oct 29, 2020
I left this review on the Natural Balance website, but wanted to leave it here, as well. Natural Balance needs to know they made a huge mistake! This used to be a good food. My dogs have been on it for a few years. They have done well with it. One of my dogs has a lot of sensitivities, and they did well with this food. However, now there is this "New and Improved" version of this food, and it is horrible. Who is it better for? Certainly not my dogs! The appearance of the food changed...looks a little gross, in my opinion. Also, this "small breed bites" variety changed in size. The pieces are no longer suitable for tiny mouths! My dogs notice the difference, too. They are hesitant I left this review on the Natural Balance website, but wanted to leave it here, as well. Natural Balance needs to know they made a huge mistake! Healthy dry
By Boopsie on Oct 25, 2020
Recently adopted a 10 year old overweight dog with no medical history. Started on this grain free and limited ingredient dry dog food. She is doing well, losing weight and has had no ill effects from the formula. Would recommend this product when there is an unknown medical history for its limited ingredients.
