Adult cats: Adult cats should be fed either once or twice per day. When you first start feeding Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Green Pea & Chicken Dry Cat Food, we suggest to start with the amounts recommended in the table. The amount of food should always be adjusted to suit your cat’s needs. If you would like to provide a special treat for your cat, you can add small amounts of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Chicken & Green Pea Canned Cat Food. Gestating and Lactating Queens: Gestating and lactating queens will consume more food, usually an additional 1/2 - 2 daily. Older cats: As your cat begins to age, his energy expenditure will decrease. Decreasing the amount of food accordingly will allow for the maintenance of proper body weight for your less active cat. Older cats are sometimes more reluctant to eat hard foods. Adding larger amounts of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Chicken & Green Pea Canned Cat Food will help the most "finicky" eater enjoy their daily meals.
These feeding guidelines are suggested only. Feeding amounts may vary by breed, activity level, temperament and climate. Amounts are recommended for an average cat with normal activity.
We recommend that you do not add vitamins, minerals or any other supplements, except upon the advice of a veterinarian. The maintenance of proper body weight is most important for your cat’s health. Consult your veterinarian for specific weight recommendations for your cat. Remember, fresh clean water should be available at all times!
When switching your cat’s diet, the change should be made gradually, by replacing the current food with increasing portions of Natural Balance® L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets® Green Pea & Salmon Dry Cat Food. The change should be completed after 5 - 7 days.
After our cat was diagnosed with food allergies, we tried many foods that didn't cause her problems. This food was THE one, until it wasn't. Vomiting and excessive itching started about the same time as the new packaging occured. Did they change the formula, or is there something in the plastic-like bag that she's sensitive to? I don't know, but I will not be feeding her this brand again. Too bad, she was doing so well :(
My car with several allergies had previously had reactions multiple foods until changing ti this one years ago. She was stable and had no problems until recently when she started vomiting every time she ate. After lots of trial and error, stress, and vet visits for testing, it was determined it had to be the food. Lo and behold, the recent bag design change was also part of a formula change, so there is something in the new recipe that she’s reacting to. It’s such a bummer because this was a winner for so long, and now we are having trouble finding a new dry food that 1) she will actually eat 2) that doesn’t include any of her known allergies. At least Chewy was great with the refund, but I will beg Natural Balance to change it back because it’s so hard to find something for sensitive, multi-allergy kitties.
This NEW Salmon & "Green Pea" formula replaced their Salmon & "ChickPea" formula. My cat had no issues transitioning over. HE adores SALMON. Chewy made it easy to do so when the old formula was discontinued by manufacturer. Thank you Chewy, you guys always make my life & Fur-babies lives super easy.
We were using the more expensive vet prescribed only "limited ingredient" for Skin/Food Sensitivities dry food because our cat, Molly, was losing her hair and over-licking. The prices shot up so we started looking for an alternative. This product works GREAT. Hats off to Chewy for offering this product!
Ive fed this to my cats for a couple months. I will say, my cats are very playful and seem more energetic on this food which I love to see. However they are ALWAYS hungry. Since the first AND fourth ingredient is peas Im inclined to believe that they are actually hungry and not just begging for food like cats do. Im happy this food agrees with them however I will be swapping it out for a food that has meat/fish as the FIRST ingredient. I want to make sure they are getting enough protein. So the food is good I guess but we are moving on.
All 4.of my kittys will eat this. It has good ingredients(alot of peas but that is common anymore) and my kitty that can not have chicken, corn, eggs and dairy can eat it. Some foods make 2.of my kittys immediately regurgitate for some reason and so far this one does not. The only complaint I have is that the shape of the food changes from bag to bag. Sometimes bigger and flat disc shape(which my cats prefer) sometime small and more a rounder thicker shape.
I appreciate Natural Balance's LID products. My cat has so many allergies, I don't even know what she's allergic to, but I'm pretty sure chicken is one of them. So many of the supposed LID foods have something I don't want to take a chance on. My cats prefer the salmon and chickpea formula, which I have on autoship, but when it was out of stock, I was grateful that this alternative was there. I also appreciate Chewy's lightning-fast response time! It's almost like having the factory next door!
I have been trying to find some better options for our allergy cat (we still don't know what allergy). I figured, let's try this one, it's grain free. Out of my 6 cats, no one really loves it. They will eat it after their favorite junkier food has run out (or almost low... you know cats), but it takes a long time for them to get through a bowl. So it's not unedible, but it's definitely not a favorite. It seems fresh and good quality, though.
My vet recommended a diet free of chicken and chicken by products for my cat. He does't turn it away, but is still getting accustomed to not having his favorite chicken. Makes him have "fish breath".
This is a great food for cats that have a ton of allergies like mine! My poor cat if she eats something she is allergic to begins to pull her hair out. So this is absolutely the best choice that is not chicken based since that is a big allergy for her.
