Questions & Answers

11 Customer Questions

Have these been treated by irradiation?
Answer by ChewySep 12, 2019
Nature Gnaws are made through a very simple and natural process without added hormones, preservatives or chemicals. The raw meat is cleaned with only water (they never use harsh chemicals), then the product is placed in drying ovens for up to 72 hours at extremely high temperatures. After the product is removed from the oven, it is inspected, cut to size and packaged.

what is the approximate size of these?
Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2019
These treats are approximately 6 to 9 inches in length.

Did these return to the “whole cow ear”! Rings and thick ends attached? Last purchase were minus the WHOLE ear.
Answer by ChewySep 17, 2021
Like humans, cow chews come in all different shapes and sizes. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee which type of cow ears you will receive.

How long will these last? Expiration period?
Answer by ChewyJul 18, 2019
A packaged of Nature Gnaws Bully Sticks will have a shelf-life of 1-2 years. You can also place in your freezer to last even longer.

Diseased, spotted, translucent

The ears arrived looking diseased, covered in spots, and caused my dog to break out in this god awful rash that caused hair loss. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Something different

MyBabies are used to the pigs ears but when I saw these I thought why not give them a try. They are a lot thinner and bigger than the pigs ears but believe or not the dogs take a lot longer to finish one off. I thought because they were thinner they would be gobbled up in a heart beat. They really enjoy them.

cow ears dog treats

my dogs love these as much as the pig ears, they are larger and thinner so easier for them to chew

Smelled like perfume

The bag and chewy box smelled strongly of perfume upon arrival. I tried hosing off the sealed bag before opening it, and it still smelled. After opening the bag, all of the ears inside also smell like perfume. :(

$20 price increase and not the same!

Purchased these in May for $60. My dogs loved them! Went to reorder and not only are they $20(!) more, but the product changed for the worse. Thank goodness I read the other reviews. I will not be reordering these.

Caused GI Problems

After offering this product to my 54# Retriever for two days she had significant sized bits and pieces of the product in her stools and bright red blood. We discontinued giving her the Cow ears and the rectal bleeding stoped in about two days. She never had a problem like this before and has tolerated Bully Sticks well. Unfortunately I bought two bags of this stuff to save shipping costs and have trashed the product.

Caused GI Bleeding 7/12/21

My dog is a 52# retriever and has done well with all sized Bully Sticks. I thought I'd try these cows ears and bought two pkgs to take advantage of free shipping. They were quite large so we broke them in half and after the third day our pet was passing bright red blood with stools containing large pieces of the cows ears. We discontinued the Cows Ears and within two days the rectal bleeding stoped.

They changed it for the worst

I had this on auto ship but my last batch I got all the ears were pressed flat, which I thought was weird but didn't think anything of it. But then my dog who normally inhales these ears refused to chew on them. I've had them for a month and shes ate a grand total of 3 when she normally eats them all by 7 weeks. Bad move on the change. I can no longer recommend people to buy these, as it seems that it's not just only my dog who won't eat them.

depends upon your dog(s)

My dogs were happy to have them for the first week or two. After that, they wanted other treats. Maybe they're too bland? I now order the beef tendons by the pound and the dogs love them (until they don't).
