Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time. 1. Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days. 2. Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days. 3. Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days. 4. Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.

I’ve been buying VE freeze dried raw for a few years now. I was excited to find this one since it doesn’t use bone(less pokey bits for when my cattos chew on it) and it was less expensive. Sadly, my cat that needs a novel protein wouldn’t touch it. I had half of the new food next to half of her old food in the same bowl, and she ate around the new. One of my other cats loves the VE rabbit, so he ate the leftovers when I set it out. I didn’t notice too much of a difference in smell. It didn’t smell good by any means, but the bag I got didn’t smell rotten.
My 2 girls didn't care for it at all.
I don't know if I got a bad batch but when I opened the bag it smelled really off, like a weird rancid smell. I've tried many other brands of freeze dried cat food and none of them ever smelled this bad. I almost didn't want to give it to my cats but I tried anyway. They wouldn't touch it which didn't surprise me.
First bag was so rancid my cat ran out of the room and I almost vomited. The replacement was little better. She ate half a biscuit and refused anymore after that.
I tried this because my cats love rabbit, and it was cheaper than other brands. But it was rancid when I opened it. Kitties didn't eat it.
