What kind of sand do I use for tropical fish
Answer by ChewyOct 11, 2020
The Aqua Terra Aquarium & Terrarium Sand is suitable for Pond, Freshwater, Saltwater fish.

will to 20 -lb bags of live sand be enough to cover the bottom of my 150 gallons saltwater tank I already have sand but it’s old looking and I wanted to add new sand
Answer by ChewyApr 28, 2020
Use a minimum of 1 pound Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Live Sand per gallon of saltwater. Set up an appropriate filtering system and allow it to circulate. During the first month introduce no more than 1 inch of fish per 5 gallon saltwater.

can I use with African cichlids
Answer by ChewySep 16, 2020
This product is intended for saltwater aquariums only. This would not be suitable for African Cichlids, since they are freshwater fish.

Is the buffering capability what makes this substrate saltwater only? Or is there another reason it can't be used in freshwater systems?
Answer by ChewyMar 19, 2018
The sand uses Marine Autotrophic bacteria for saltwater, it may not have the same successful results in freshwater tanks.

Buy Caribsea this sand has an awful manure smell

I was very disappointed, my sand smelled like manure from day 1. The bag was not damaged or expired. It's been 1 month and the smell has not gone away. I tried contacting the company who sells this and they asked to call but never got back to me. I regret this purchase 100%. Do not buy this product.

Don't Buy This

I ordered the 0.25-1.7mm sand. The product was on two separate shipments the first two bags were great. the second two arrived and when I put them in my tank It had a bunch of crushed shells everywhere which I didn't order. The bags have the correct size but they must've been mislabeled. Now I have to spend hours picking them out of the sand. Please don't put into your tank without double checking.

Great cheap sand

I've used this in several tanks now, it's a great price point and it's decent live sand.

Good looking natural sand, white in color

Received 160 lbs. The dates on bags showed it to be about 4 months old, well sealed and wet inside with no leaks. It did have some odor to it. I added entire contents of bag without rinsing and it took the typical time it takes for a new set up to clear. It is sugar sand, the 1-1.5 mm grain size is not accurate. High flow blows it around some so put a rock where it craters or you will be fixing your bed every few days. I like the look of it and I've had coarser beds before so I'll enjoy this for a change of pace. I will add lots of Nassarius snails after a while and leave it alone.

Loved it. It's just as described.

Showed up on time. Still wet like it should be to keep living biological alive. No odor. Very pretty white color. Its somewhat fine with some bigger pieces. It settled very quickly in my 90 gallon aquarium.
