The best "upset tummy" food around!

By Deborah on Jun 2, 2020

I try to keep a 15LB bag of this on hand at all times. It's not a food I would feed every day because it's extremely bland, very low calorie and very basic/ limited ingredient - Lamb, barley, oats, brewers rice, poultry fat with a lot of synthetic vitamins and minerals. But when one of my dogs eats a pigeon feather they found in the yard and has screaming diarrhea from it (they don't call pigeons "sky rats" for no reason!) or has upset tummy or diarrhea for any reason, known or unknown - giving them this for a week or so until it's settled down and all signs of "yuck tummy" or the dog just generally not appearing to feel well are gone, we're good to go back to their regular food. They like the taste (or instinctively know it will make them feel better - or both) and it does the trick every time and does not cause constipation like boiled chicken and rice does after a day or two. Highly recommended to have on hand for "those times" - we all get sick sometimes (especially those of us who snack on bird bits they find in the yard!) I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because, as I said, this is too incomplete, low calorie, lacking in pre or probiotics with lower quality ingredients than I'd otherwise like but it's never been refused for any length of time and it's never failed to get them back on the right path again, nor any other dog I've recommended it to. … more

I still have my old kibbles & bits that I'm using until it's gone. I've been putting both in their bowls. Not mixing them. I see it like my old dog food is like McDonald's, bad for them but tasty. The new healthier food looks and smells better to me but it'll take getting used to for them. Once I'm out of the old food I'll update if I'm allowed. My friend mixes this healthy version with Natures Balance (also from chewy) and her dogs smell like tortilla chips. So that's a plus! … more
