Mostly "gravy", little to no venison

    By Indigo on Apr 25, 2021 top250Contributor

My dogs love Nature's recipe venison kibble, so when I saw this I thought they'd enjoy it, too. Sadly not. First, over half of each tin is "gravy"--or more closely, a watery sauce. And as far as the meat, judging by the color and texture, I have to assume 90% is chicken. I find maybe two tiny pieces of what are darker, denser textured meat, so presumably venison, per can. I could live with these issues (although I consider them to be deceptive on the part of Nature's Recipe), but my dogs don't care for it. I've tried feeding them three tins over the past few days, and in each and every case they picked at what was in their bowls, then walked away. I don't have particularly picky dogs and in fact have one dog who eats everything, and do mean everything and even he found it to be "meh". Even I have to admit it doesn't have a particularly appetizing aroma. Donating the rest to my local animal shelter in hopes they can find use for it. Won't buy Nature's Recipe wet food again. … more

    Yummy Food

By Godsey on May 10, 2021

I have two small dogs. 1st is Cami my little chiweenie and Kess my teacup chihuahua. Both of them are very picky on foods. And I have found that both dogs absolutely love this canned food as well as the small breed dry in the same brand. Not only is it very healthy for them but it's low cost. It's all natural ingredients.

    Great Dog food

By Suzie on Jan 28, 2021

My dog has colitis & it’s easy to digest. Plus she loves it! It’s not ground up food. There’s actually mostly shredded meat in each can! There is vegetables in it too!

All three of our dogs love this!

By Linda on Dec 13, 2020

Finding something that three very different pooches all like is truly a labor of love, but Nature's Recipe (all flavors of the grain free) accomplishes that. It smells good enough for human consumption, I swear! Their dog dishes are licked positively clean, and I love this portion size! I highly recommend!

    My Dog Loves This Food!

By HappyPup on Dec 3, 2020

I started buying this dog food because my dog was getting tired of the same old thing. He absolutely loves this dog food. He likes the stew consistency better than the ground up stuff. You can actually see the meat in it. The only thing is the past couple of times when I bought it (2 cases) the inside cans were all dented.

    Great food

By Hannah on Dec 26, 2020

I bought this food because it does not contain peas or rice, which my dog is allergic to. There's nothing wrong with it, but she doesn't seem to like this chicken/venison version as much as she likes the chicken/turkey flavor.

    Best food ever!

By Meme on Dec 7, 2020

The chicken and venison stew is the only food my shih tzu will eat and she is extremely fussy. It’s kinda runny but mixed with some dry small kibble it’s perfect! Smells great like real stew, yum!
