Customized for Your Dog's Needs
Whether you have a tiny purebred Chihuahua, a dog with a sensitive tummy or a Great Pyrenees with skin issues, Nature's Recipe has a specialized diet for your pet. Their Special Needs line includes Breed Specific, High Protein, Easy to Digest, Healthy Skin, Joint Health and Healthy Weight recipes to cover every pet's needs.

Just the Right Size
Small breeds have different requirements than larger breeds when it comes to their daily diet. Nature's Recipe has several unique offerings for each size. Small breed meals focus on sustaining your pup's energy with food that's easy to digest. And large breed formulas help maintain strong muscles and joints as well as the proper weight.
High-Protein Recipe
Nature's Recipe Adult food keeps up the energy your dog had as a puppy and powers your active dog's metabolism and alertness. High-quality protein from premium sources like chicken and lamb help maintain your adult dog's lean muscle mass.

A Meal That's Easy to Digest
Any good dog food should be highly digestible and easy on your furry friend's stomach. Easy to Digest is a formula that gives your dog the proper nutrition so his body can absorb a higher percentage of nutrients. This leads to better digestive health and colon function.
Shiny Coats and Healthy Skin
A healthy, strong coat gives dogs protection from the elements and is a good indicator of their overall well-being. Healthy Skin recipes offer high-quality venison meal or vegetable-based proteins, omega-6, linoleic acid, copper and zinc—ingredients that support the skin, coat and immune system.

Mobility and Joint Support
Joint Health uses two premium protein sources loaded with amino acids, along with a dose of vitamin C, for natural joint support. There's a delicious combo of catfish meal and chicken meal in this recipe, and DHA is added to support brain function.
Weight Management
If your dog needs a weight management plan, Healthy Weight can help keep him on track. This formula has L-carnitine to metabolize fat, soluble fiber to make your chowhound feel full, and high-quality protein for leaner muscles.

About Nature's Recipe
Nature's Recipe uses only natural ingredients and specific vitamins and nutrients to keep dogs and cats healthy. Their premium pet foods never use ingredients like beef, corn or wheat that tend to cause food intolerances. They include quality protein and nutrients without artificial flavors or colors because they believe your pet deserves only the best.

Must be very palatable but ingredients need improvement
By Sara on Mar 29, 2021
I switched to this from a heavy meat based food, so I expected my dogs to dislike it, but they actually really seem to enjoy it. They eat it right away whereas they used to leave their other foods until they were especially hungry. I would give 5 stars, but the ingredients are full of fillers. The bulk of the food, for example, is brewer's rice, which is basically all the broken pieces and crumbles of white rice that can't be used for human food. The rest of the food is basically just barley and soybeans and then they dump a bunch of vitamins in. I don't feel good about that ingredient list, but this is the most affordable of the vegetarian dog foods, so until I can upgrade, I'll just be happy I switched to this from a heavy meat based food, so I expected my dogs to dislike it, but they actually really seem to enjoy it. I use another, more expensive brand for my small dogs that has much better ingredients, but this one fills a need for a food that I can afford to feed to two very big dogs that eat a ton and they seem to be doing well on it. … more

Alternative food
By Krysty on Mar 29, 2021
I got this for my dogs who both lick their paws and was told it could be allergies to chicken and I should try the process of elimination. It has been a week and I see no difference except that they are starving all the time. That's probably because there is no meat protein in this food. They don't eat it just keep spitting it out. The bad part is this only came in a 20 pound bag and so I am out the money for it. It would have been nice if they offered a small bag so you can test it for less.

Perianal Fistulas diet PAF
By Kehner on Jan 14, 2021
I work for an animal hospital & finally found a DVM that suggested a vegetarian diet for my GSD's PAF condition. I feed it in addition to cyclosporine, cytopoint inj. & regular medicated baths. It is always worth a try as there is no cure only management for the disease. Sometimes difficult to find as many people who have "gone Vegan" think their dogs should be like them. Feeding my dog meat means he cannot have a B.M. otherwise soy protein seems to work for now.

Bag is now Plastic, Sadly No Longer Paper
By Elizabeth on Mar 19, 2021
This is a fine food. My dog likes it. Keeps his weight steady. I usually add food on top as this is rather bland I fear. HOWEVER, they have switched to a plastic bag (was paper) so I will not be ordering it anymore.

Great food
By Jlh137 on Mar 31, 2021
My dogs love this food and it’s helped with symptoms due to allergies. My dog’s eyes don’t seem as watery, either. The bonus is that it is a vegetarian formula. Great all around.

Love this dogfood!
By gigi on Oct 31, 2020
I have a golden retriever mix who is allergic to chicken, flax seed, and oats. I think he may also be allergic to certain preservatives in dogfood. This is the only dry dogfood I have found that has eliminated his scratching and hives. An extra bonus.. he has lost a few pounds in the last 6 months, and he poops less. For those of you afraid of vegetarian diets, don't be! You won't be sorry.

They like it!
By DeeKaySss on Jan 26, 2021
2 of our 3 dogs have allergies and this seems to be helping to eliminate diet related allergies. All 3 dogs like it and that's a huge plus!

Dog likes it, vet says it’s doing better for her. No issues with her having any health issues. I’d order again, hard to find.

Dog ate it but didn't love it
By Alex on Oct 6, 2020
This food is a standard kibble food. My dog didn't love it but she was willing to eat it (she is not a picky eater). Her fur started getting really greasy after we switched to this food, so we no longer use it.

My dog is now the world’s largest source of natural gas
By Nicole on Jun 12, 2020
Oh. The. GAS. I had to switch from the venison and potato formula because I guess they no longer make it. My dog is a 90 lb lab mix who is very healthy and never has had issues with most dog food, until this. She has hyperkaratosis that makes her nose cracked and dry, and it seems that when we gave her the other food, it cleared up. She is also on a strict diet to help her slim down. Anyhow, since switching to this food, she has gas all the time. And it’s terrible. Like I’m waiting for the paint to start peeling off the wall from the fumes terrible. It’s also done absolutely nothing to help with her skin issues. I hope the other formulation comes back, but in the mean time, I absolutely will Oh. The. GAS.
