Customized for Your Dog's Needs

Whether you have a tiny purebred Chihuahua, a dog with a sensitive tummy or a Great Pyrenees with skin issues, Nature's Recipe has a specialized diet for your pet. Their Special Needs line includes Breed Specific, High Protein, Easy to Digest, Healthy Skin, Joint Health and Healthy Weight recipes to cover every pet's needs.

Just the Right Size

Small breeds have different requirements than larger breeds when it comes to their daily diet. Nature's Recipe has several unique offerings for each size. Small breed meals focus on sustaining your pup's energy with food that's easy to digest. And large breed formulas help maintain strong muscles and joints as well as the proper weight.

High-Protein Recipe

Nature's Recipe Adult food keeps up the energy your dog had as a puppy and powers your active dog's metabolism and alertness. High-quality protein from premium sources like chicken and lamb help maintain your adult dog's lean muscle mass.

A Meal That's Easy to Digest

Any good dog food should be highly digestible and easy on your furry friend's stomach. Easy to Digest is a formula that gives your dog the proper nutrition so his body can absorb a higher percentage of nutrients. This leads to better digestive health and colon function.

Shiny Coats and Healthy Skin

A healthy, strong coat gives dogs protection from the elements and is a good indicator of their overall well-being. Healthy Skin recipes offer high-quality venison meal or vegetable-based proteins, omega-6, linoleic acid, copper and zinc—ingredients that support the skin, coat and immune system.

Mobility and Joint Support

Joint Health uses two premium protein sources loaded with amino acids, along with a dose of vitamin C, for natural joint support. There's a delicious combo of catfish meal and chicken meal in this recipe, and DHA is added to support brain function.

Weight Management

If your dog needs a weight management plan, Healthy Weight can help keep him on track. This formula has L-carnitine to metabolize fat, soluble fiber to make your chowhound feel full, and high-quality protein for leaner muscles.

About Nature's Recipe

Nature's Recipe uses only natural ingredients and specific vitamins and nutrients to keep dogs and cats healthy. Their premium pet foods never use ingredients like beef, corn or wheat that tend to cause food intolerances. They include quality protein and nutrients without artificial flavors or colors because they believe your pet deserves only the best.

This food contains garlic oil and garlic powder. I thought garlic was bad for dogs.
Answer by ChewyFeb 19, 2018
Garlic, when used in small amounts, can help support the immune system, liver and cardiovascular system prevents blood clots and reduces cholesterol/fat build up in the blood and heart. Also, it aides in the fight against bacterial, viral and fungal infections and increases the rate of killing off parasites and is great for palatability.

finally... a dog food all 4 of my dogs like and have no issues with

My dogs and I all LOVE this dogfood!!!!! I gave it 5 stars because when I was able to get it it was wonderful!! But it gets 0 stars now... The vegetarian recipe suits all my small dogs' issues!! Unfortunately this is NO LONGER AVAILABLE!!!! This is very frustrating especially for a "specific diet Recipe" Dogfood companies don't understand how frustrating it is to finally find a dog food that is perfect for their dog(s) and it becomes "unavailable" we can't do this to our dogs! I am extremely aggravated about this! I will not buy the brand Natures Recipe!! Unless they bring this formula back.

Is this really gone

I swear my pets are healthier eating this food, and now I hear Chewy is discontinuing it. Please bring it back.

Well, at least he likes it

We ordered this food for our 9 year old pit mix who has (largely environmental) allergies. We'd hoped in conjunction with his supplements, cytopoint injections and medicated baths, we could get him a bit more relief. So far, there is no change by adding this food to Simon's "allergy arsenal". We are about done with the bag and have ordered a second to be sure we give it a fair chance. On the plus side, he really seems to like the food and we had zero digestive upset.

Upset my dogs stomach.

I recently found out that my dog is allergic to meat so I’ve had to resort to vegetarian kibble. The first one I came across was Wild Earth so thats the first one we tried. Soon after getting this her skin cleared up, she stopped scratching and ear infections were no longer a problem. However it is pretty expensive so I decided to look into other brands and chose this one because she seemed to tolerate the salmon/pumpkin the best before I knew she was allergic to meat. This food did not cause her to scratch like foods with meat do however she did have VERY runny stool, yeast infections in groin area and under tail as well as anal gland issues. Should have known not to switch up. If it’s not broke don’t fix it..

Perfect for my chihuahua mix

My 13 lbs chi mix loves this. While it might not come in a smaller kibble size, its still manageable and my chi boy still eats it straight out the bag dry. But I also serve it up soft by pouring warm water over the kibble and letting it soak for a minute or two - he eats it dry but loves it soft.

Heathy Alternative

Our pup was scratching nonstop. This new vegetarian food has cut that down quite a bit. Pup LOVES it!

Unfortunately

I had high hopes for this food. However my pit, who's allergic, has sensitive skin, and sensitive digestion. First, he hated the taste and would wait to eat. After 3 months, he's scratching more, chewing his feet more, while throwing up his food from time to time.
