HIGH-PROTEIN KIBBLE

High in animal protein, grain-free and guided by Instinct's belief in raw, each recipe starts with real meats like cage-free chicken, USA-raised beef or farm-raised rabbit.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Original by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw — raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

My dogs have never been so excited about meal time. If I didn't add something to the other brands of dry dog food they could have cared less about eating. Now they lick the bottom of their bowls without adding anything to it! Over the years I have tried Blue, taste of the wild, sportmix, diamond naturals, solid gold and a few others and this one blows them all away! No more scratching, shinny coats, better breath and excited about meal time! It is a bit more expensive but if you can afford it then it is completely worth a try. Their second favorite was taste of the wild but they were never excited to eat like they are now.

  • "Cooling protein"

    By on

I have two brittanys. One is a hot dog for whom a food with "cooling" protein has been prescribed, and thus the choice of Instinct Grain-Free Recipe with Real Rabbit. Both of my dogs love this food so much that they are trying to break into the locked container in which their food is stored. It is too soon to tell whether the food is helping the hot dog, but there are no digestive issues with either dog.

  • Lab with Allergies

    By on

My chocolate lab has a few food allergies, and I was running out of proteins to feed him. Most recently, he had been eating salmon-based dog food, which was fine for a few years but then caused him severe allergic reactions (skin, ears, coat, paws - everything was red and inflamed. So sad!). I hadn't ever tried rabbit, so we gave this food a go. What a lifesaver! His coat is back to normal and so shiny, his skin is calm and his ears and paws are no longer red or inflamed. He likes the kibble, but he enjoys his meals more when I add a little of the canned rabbit food. So thankful to have found this! Also, echoing what another reviewer said, it does give my dog some gas, but that's totally worth My chocolate lab has a few food allergies, and I was running out of proteins to feed him. • My dog likes it

    By on

My dog is 11 years old and recently started having skin allergies. Rabbit and grain free was a perfect combination for her. It's taken her a little time to get use to it, after all she's 11, but she does like it. I found feeding her a higher quality food, she doesn't eat as much. Based on her weight, she eats 1/2 cup 2 times a day. Thank you for making a good product.

My vet recommended switching to Rabbit from Venison as my poor allergic Newfoundland’s food. He loves the food and is doing well on it after four weeks.

My dog was itching like crazy. We tried a few dry foods but there was always something he couldn't handle. We switched to instinct rabbit and he has been itch free ever since.

  • Great for allergy pets!!!

    By on

My american bully has had his share of skin issues. I have gone through different types of dog food, avoiding chicken and grain, but none have had the results of this one. His skin has and coat have drastically improved in appearance and he eats up every last bite. Beware, It causes my pup to have gas. Whew!! All that being said, I would still definitely recommend this to anyone.

My puppies are not crazy for this kibble. They love the rabbit canned food in this brand though. I wanted them to love it because it’s such good quality.

I cannot speak about the quality of this product since I never gave it to my dog. When I received the bag, it has been torn open - the food was exposed and someone had used a piece of red tape to try to seal it! Why not just toss it instead of sending it to a customer?? Will never buy dry dog food from Chewy again.
