About Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Dog Food

Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Dog Food

The ingredient list is purposefully simple for pets with food sensitivities. It focuses on one animal protein and one vegetable—versus the mix of each you'll find in most pet foods.

Sometimes what's not included is just as important as what is. These recipes are made with grass-fed meat or cage-free poultry and always made without grain, dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy or artificial ingredients.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw—raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Best Food for My Dog with EPI

    By on

One of my rescue dogs developed Endocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency when he turned 6 yrs old. Even with the necessary prescription medication added to his food it was difficult to find a food that he could properly digest. Instinct's Limited Ingredient Diet line of food is perfect for him and I can also feed it to our other rescue dog who has no serious health issues. They are now 10.5 and 13 yrs old and the vet staff are amazed at how great they look for their age. Chewy's delivery program is easy to adjust and use online.

  • Another change for Buster

    By on

Due to a shortage of Buster's regular dog food, I decided to try another grain free, limited ingredient food in the interim. He loves it! I also give him several Tbs. of 'kefir' on top to maintain yeast health. I believe I will switch to Instinct Lamb feed on a (hopefully) permanent basis! Valerie & Buster

  • Improved itching and loved the flavor!

    By on

We have tried a bunch of different foods but none have helped nearly as much as this one! This has been the first food that she eats right away. Previous foods we had to add different things to persuade her to eat (hot dogs, real meat, etc.). Her itching has slow been going down as well since starting this.

My two puppers LOVE this dog food. My Pomeranian is going on 9yrs old in March and has always been picky..he has been eating this brand for 3 years no problems. My border collie is a vacuum cleaner but he has thrived on this brand for a year now. Shinier coat and stopped chewing his feet! I will be a long time client.

  • Good choice if you need to go with kibble

    By on

I'd prefer to feed raw but i haven't always been able to make that work economically for my pack of 3 dogs. this is a good choice when i need to go with kibble - it's great for the one dog with allergies and they all love it.

  • My dog eats it

    By on

My dog is so picky that I ready didn`t know if he will like it or not. So I started to mix a little bit of this with his current food (Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Hydrolyzed Protein). I am so glad that he eats it after I tried a lot of others.

  • Our dog has allergies!

    By on

Our dog has allergies and the vet told us to get her a food to help alleviate her allergic reactions. We purchased this Lamb food and brought the package to the vet for her to review. Our vet is pleased with the ingredients in this food and our dog does seem to be doing better with this lamb food.

  • Turned up their noses

    By on

My pups eat Instinct and I thought they would like this but, they're not terribly fond of it. I think they eat it (not much of it) just to make me happy. But, they do like their Instinct!

  • Finally, some relief for my American Bulldog!

    By on

Our AB has had food allergies for many years. Finally got her tested and shes allergic to 7 things! (Chicken, Turkey, Wheat, Flax, Barley & Alfalfa) This instinct dog food has none of those ingredients that shes sensitive to. So thankful I found this; her skin is no longer red and shes no longer biting at her feet!

  • Winner for us!

    By on

We have used the instinct chicken formula for many years and loved it. We just got a new puppy and he was sick nonstop when we were trying to transition him to our food. We finally thought to change the meat source and gave him the lamb version instead. Within hours of his first meal his tummy troubles were over! (He was having diarrhea 10+ times a day) We now know he has a chicken intolerance. To make it easier on us we also switched our older dog from the chicken to the lamb and the transition was seamless. Great food and dogs love the taste!
