1 ANIMAL PROTEIN

The ingredient list is purposefully simple for pets with food sensitivities. It focuses on one animal protein and one vegetable—versus the mix of each you'll find in most pet foods.

SIMPLE AND ESSENTIAL

Sometimes what's not included is just as important as what is. Our recipes are made with cage-free poultry or farm-raised rabbit and always made without grain, dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy or artificial ingredients.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

They put the pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet by tumbling their kibble with crushed, freeze-dried raw—raising the bar in nutrition and taste.

The Pure, Real Nutrition of Raw Is In Everything Instinct Does

Instinct's Responsibility as The Raw Brand

LEAD WITH RAW

It all started with Instinct's raw pet food. Since the beginning, they've led with raw because they know the good it can do. They're rewriting the rules of pet food and championing raw nutrition to bring its superior benefits to all that they do.

KEEP IT REAL

Delicious and nutritious pet food should only use real ingredients. For Instinct, this means all-natural, real meat, fruits and vegetables, with nothing artificial.

MAKE IT SIMPLE

Feeding raw should be simple, and it should easily fit into your everyday routine. Instinct believes raw should be accessible to pet parents so every pet can experience the benefits of raw nutrition.

GIVE BACK

Instinct believes in the power of raw nutrition. It only makes sense to share it. Together with Best Friends Animal Society, they're furthering the no-kill movement and their shared mission of transforming and saving the lives of pets.

MAKE IT BETTER

Instinct has never been afraid to challenge the status quo of pet nutrition. They continuously redefine what better means—always pushing their standards of nutrition to raise the bar in pet food.

Pure, real nutrition of raw on every piece

ONE MILLION MEALS

All pets deserve food that's real, nutrient-rich, grain-free and natural. That's why Instinct provides over one million meals annually to the dogs and cats at Best Friends Animal Society adoption centers nationwide. Because what we feed them can make all the difference. Here "we" refers to the pet parent, not Instinct.

About Instinct

Instinct believes deeply that it's up to them to find a way to make it possible for more people to feed their pets the pure, real nutrition that only comes from raw. They know that if they can get the nutrition of raw into more bowls, they'll transform the lives of more pets. And that's really why they do what they do.

  • Picky Kitty Pick

I have a very picky kitty and have tried several different healthy foods for her but to no avail. Until I tried this one!! She didn't even hesitate to start munching down on this awesomely healthy, grain free food, the only problem now is listening to her cry for seconds! So very happy we found a brand of food my cat actually likes but also it's one I can feel good about giving her.

  • Really helped my kitty!

    By on

I was trying to do an elimination diet with my 9-month old kitten after he had an allergic episode and lost fur around his neck. I couldn't use any fish or poultry, so rabbit was one of my only choices, but hard to find. Kitty was having digestive issues with the raw and wet food I tried and stopped eating, so I was desperate for some dry food that still met my criteria for his diet. This was the only food I found that would work -- and he likes it. Lifesaver!

  • This is the only kibble that checks all the boxes

I have a 16 year old cat, who will eat anything, but unfortunately throws up and licks her fur off if she has any chicken, turkey, fish (esp tuna), and grains. She also vomits after eating most dry foods. I also have a very picky 8 year old cat who will turn her nose up to 80% of the food I give her. I have been feeding all canned food lately which is great in some ways, but with the restrictions I am working with, it sometimes costs me $90+ to feed these two cats each month, and it STILL doesn't solve all the issues. I have been feeding this food for a week now, and so far, no vomiting, no licking, and both cats are eating it with absolute gusto. • Cats love it but..

All 3 have thrown up more than usual after starting this food. One has thrown up multiple times a day the previous couple days. Because this food is so dark, I now have really dark stains all over my house. Not sure if they’re just adjusting to it or what..they flock to the bowls and seem to like it and there are no other changes in behavior. Going back to salmon food though.

  • Great food.

    By on

This is the food I normally buy for my cats. I need foods, with no chicken or fish, limited ingredients. This is extremely hard to find in cat foods. They seem to like this and definately has lessened the upset tummies, and surprise piles of up-chucks. And for anyone who wants less litter box messes to clean, then read your ingredients on your kitties foods. Makes a big difference when they eat less, because of the garbage in "store",and "chain" foods ingredients. Better ingredients all around happier healthier kitties, and less litter box cleaning. And believe me, 6 kitties, 3 litter boxes, 2 cleanings twice a day is great.

  • limited ingredient food

I purchased this food because I needed a food that was not chicken or fish for my kitty that was allergic to chicken and had been on fish for a long time. She has iodiopathic cystitis and we needed to limit her diet. I was very leary that she would not like the rabbit but not only does she like it but my other kitties try to steal her food as well.

  • best LID food

My cat is picky (whose isn't). This food is the only food that meets the criteria of no poultry, no potatoes, and just no extra crud. Plus my cat goes in to eat it, and doesn't wait until she absolutely has to eat it. The black kibble freaked me out at first and also how it came out the back end of my cat black as well, but that is just how the kibble is. Please don't ever stop making this instinct. Local stores do not carry this any more so that is why I ordered from chewy and I am glad I did.

  • Cats love it!

We have 3 cats, one sensitive to grains, one allergic to fish, chicken, turkey and eggs, and a picky eater to round out the bunch. It is so difficult to find something that they can all eat and will actually eat! This fits the bill and all three kitties give it 4 paws up!

  • Surprise - they both love it!

    By on

I'm blessed with one cat already who has quite a few food intolerances and can be a little picky. He loves this food, and has actually started eating more in general. I rescued a feral that we're trying a food allergy trial on now, and he's very picky as well, also loves it. I couldn't believe my luck!

  • A challenging diet

My cat Grady has many allergies, including fish and birds. It is nearly impossible to find cat food without either of these included. I was thrilled to find this recipe, and even happier to learn that he likes it. Thanks Instinct for all you do :)
