My young dog has been having high ALT numbers for several weeks now. He is on Denamarin but this only brought the numbers down slightly. This food was recommended on a website for dogs with liver problems because it has low copper and low sodium. I tried The Honest Kitchen chicken recipe for the same reasons but my aussie didn’t like it. He loves this! And I like the price! It’s even cheaper than the Canidae Pure I was originally feeding. He has been eating it for 10 days and so far I am very pleased with it. We go back to the vet next week to check his ALT numbers. I’m hoping the diet switch has helped. I only gave it 4 stars because he hasn’t been on it that long. I think it’s got My young dog has been having high ALT numbers for several weeks now. • Prairie is still available!

    By on

My dog had been on this dog food for about 3 years and since Nature's Variety changed to Instinct, I haven't been able to buy Prairie in the stores. Instinct didn't work well for my dog, and since very few stores now carry Prairie, I was elated to find it online via Chewy.com. Was so easy to purchase online! Beats running around trying to find other stores for this brand!

  • Came with the dog.

The dog food is what the kennel was feeding our puppy, so we have continued with it. Very happy with it, but a little more expensive than other high quality dog foods, so will probably change after the puppy years!

My dogs love the chicken and brown rice and I think it is a great dry food for them, healthy and natural. I am looking forward to receiving my autoshipment every month.

We recently switched our dog from the Instinct line to the Prairie food since the high volume of protein was too much for our doodle. We couldn't be more pleased with the Prairie since it leads tremendously to a digestion with the great sources of grains. Not one ingredient in this foods you don't want in dog food. No corn, wheat, soy or additional fillers, no by products and no animal meats or fats you don't really know what it actually is. We mix the Prairie kibble with the canned instinct since our doodle is a finicky eater and doesn't eat much at all only when he's really active. He still sometimes skips a meal but the vet said not to worry, it's the poodle in the doodle ;-) I couldn't We recently switched our dog from the Instinct line to the Prairie food since the high volume of protein was too much for our doodle. • great dog food

    By on

Our yellow lab was converted to Prairie after the usual complaints about other dog foods...gas, inconsistent poops, itchy skin, etc...all of those symptoms are gone. She has a beautiful coat and no more itching. The food is meant to be switched out on a regular occasion for other flavors without interrupting their dietary needs or messing with their stomach. Works for our dog!

  • An excellent food

I've been feeding little Misty Basic Instinct dog food for years. Her coat is healthy (it also gets combed daily), her teeth are strong (they also get brushed daily) and her eyes are still sparkly. She's about 9 years old (rescued in 2009) and is my happy little 10 lb pup.

  • What's up with the feathers?

    By on

This is what I have always feed my goldens and they have done well. But lately I have been finding yellow chicken feathers in the food. Chicken feathers have no nutritional value. What is up with that?

  • Wonderful product for dogs!

Excellent price, and excellent dog food. So nice to hear the crunching of the dog food as my dog eats it, and truly enjoys it- and it is good for him!
