I got these to try out for fireworks and at the vet. I gave the recommended amount to each dog, and one of my dogs started panting heavily after about 30-45 minutes. I'm not sure if it was related to the chews, or if she was hearing something in the distance. It was a day I was expecting fireworks. My other dog seemed a little more relaxed, until the fireworks were frequently going off. I also tried them when the pest control guy came out. It seemed to help in that case, but it also could have been the mental enrichment I provided for them. I did not find anywhere on the package that gave a suggestion as to when to give them before the "scary" thing. I did some trial and error to find what worked the best for my dogs. First time I accidentally gave it to them way too early at about 4 hours before time. I was aiming for an hour before, but for some reason, my brain told me that the fireworks were going to start earlier. Another time, I was aiming to go for 45 minutes, but the scary thing didn't actually show up until 1.5 hours. When I finally got the timing right, 30-45 minutes, it did seem to help some, but not enough to be worth it, in my opinion.
This product is wonderful! My great dane is scared of fireworks and thunder, and this product does exactly what is says it does without her feeling like shes all drugged up. Its very visible that she is just very calm and relexed and on a stormy night she will sleep so calmly now without being scared! awesome product. I would highly recommend it!
I got these for my bulldog/pitbull mix who has bad separation anxiety. I give him the correct amount of chews for his weight ( 2 chews for him) about 30-45 minutes before I leave the house and he has done wonderfully. No getting into the trash, or dragging items off the counter tops. I'm extremely excited to not have to crate him when I leave the house.
My poodle Buki is very anxious in certain situations (when strangers visit, on air flights, etc.). I hoped this product would help, but it didn’t seem to.
I didn't see a calming effect in my dogs. I tried them on four different dogs.
