    Real food for my cats

    By on

I bought this as a treat for my cats, and they love it. It is full of real pieces of lamb and veggies, one can tell that it is more real food than many other wet cat foods.

    Great Food but Fishy

    By on

This is a really great food, high protein great clean ingredients but it is very fishy. The Fish Oil was so strong and with our little guy grooming he and his entire fur smelled like he fell into fish oil. We didn’t finish the case and sadly won’t repurchase unless the fish oil used is not as strong. But if you don’t mind the smell then this is a great food.

Woah!!! Never Will I Purchase Again

    By on

The minute you open this can up, it looks so soupy but good chunks of meat and potatoes. The issue is, too much soup and my cat took one sniff and took off running. He hated this very much and complained till I dumped this out and gave him something else.

    Great low phosphorus food

    By on

My picky cats love this food. As cat guardians know all cats are different in their food preferences. This stew has big chunks which my cats enjoy chewing, even though one of my cats has missing teeth. I contacted Newman’s Own regarding the phosphorus level; .09, the lowest phosphorus of all their cat foods. This makes Lamb, Liver & Vegetable Stew a winner for us.

True stew consistency; my cat likes this

    By on

My cat is usually on a special prescription wet food diet, but I dislike the ingredients in that food, so I looked for another food to supplement it. I chose this because it is relatively low in magnesium and he likes a stew consistency for variety. This has a true "stew" consistency with broth. It does not contain guar gum or carrageenan as someone else mentioned. This variety is not organic, if one is looking for that. My cat enjoys it and I will keep it in the rotation. Definitely a favorite and he eats all of it. If your cat loves a true stew, with a broth (not gravy) and chunks (not shredded) then I recommend this!

Don't Go By the Star Rating

I own three cats, two of which are Bengals. One of our Bengals has sensitivities to certain fillers (which I have narrowed down to carrageenan and guar gum). He gets terrible heartburn, nausea and will vomit excessively. Our vet placed him on a prescription diet food that he also reacted badly to and I was disappointed to see guar gum in the ingredients. After much researching, I started feeding them Nature's Instinct Variety. We have been heartburn and vomit free for almost 1/2 a year now. Unfortunately, they slowly started to dislike every flavor with exception to salmon (which is currently out of stock). I started to look for an alternative and found this stew. My cats love lamb and venison so I went with this flavor. The "Premium Stews" by Newman's Own are carrageenan and guar gum free (I did not see any other fillers in the ingredients either). They seem to only contain the necessary ingredients for 1/2 the price of Nature's Variety. A lot of reviews said cats did not like the food but ours licked their plates clean and kept crying for more. I would highly advise trying this food out and not trusting the reviews. The stew is chunky and our kitties love chewing the big chunks of lamb. Kudos to Newman's Own for offering a product that does not contain fillers that can create sensitivities in cats. We will keep buying this and will try the beef option too! … more

    Not a favorite

    By on

Unfortunately my cats weren’t happy with this choice. The liver chunks were hard as rocks and the abundance of broth made me feel like something was missing value wise. The content just didn’t appeal. I made do by puréeing the mixture and adding their favorite chicken pate to the mix but they were not happy with being tricked into eating it.

    On The List Of Favorites

    By on

My picky cat likes it. I only give it to him once a week because he has mild allergy to beef and will start itching if he eats more than one can per week. Food is very chunky, lots of meat, some carrots and potatoes. My cat doesn't like pates so this one is one of his favorites. I wish they had lamb only version.

Only wet food my cat will eat now

    By on

My cat was never a difficult cat to feed, he ate everything. Since purchasing the lamb, liver - now that's all he eats. he actually purrs when he is eating it. Other wet foods can sit in his bowl till they start attracting flies! only issue is sometimes there is lots of meat, sometimes there is lots of ravy. consistency varies from can to can.

    OK Product

    By on

I bought this food for my IBD cat and she likes it. We do remove most of the hard chunks we find in the can because she can't chew that stuff. It is not the "prettiest" cat food, as a matter of fact when I opened the first can I thought the food was bad, it looked gross, but I guess this is due to the fact that it's all very organic. I have to say there's a lot of meat, which my cat loves. My one worry is that it's made in Uruguay and I don't know how strict they are about what goes in cat food - but then the US isn't very strict either. One more thing, I wish they had 3 oz cans, we waste a lot with the 5 oz cans and I don't have money to waste.
