    My Cats Won't Eat This

    By on

I have two cats, and one is allergic to chicken and turkey. So it's hard to find foods safe for her to eat. The ingredients on this are good, but my cats will not touch it, not even with treats sprinkled on top. I offered it several times to see if they would warm up to it, with no joy. I am left with half a case that I suppose I will donate.

THANK YOU SWEETIE FOR YOUR REVIEW

    By on

THANK YOU ! Sweetie, I had the same experience with the beef, and beef and liver, I also learned that it was not made in the U.S., I wanted to help too, but, just didn't know what to say,or who to tell, because it Was Not Chewy's fault, they only sell Newman's product as all other cat and dog foods.Plus, Chewy Always Stands By Their Customers and will replace or refund anything you are not happy with. I'm sure chewy was happy to know about it too, they are all loving pet parents too.So, all we can do is what you and I do,is to be careful, read labels, and look close at everything we feed our babies, and if it doesn't look right or smell right don't feed it to them.

All beef: no preservatives, no carbs, no chicken or fish. 100% perfect!

    By on

This is one of only two cat foods being sold that are 100% beef. It's the highest quality cat food I've ever found, with no preservatives, no carbohydrates, no gravy, no chicken, no fish, etc, etc. It's obviously designed for people who have done their research on feline nutrition. My father was a veterinarian, and was always giving a speech to customers about how to select a good cat food. It used to be a lot easier to find good foods, but these days they are all full of materials that your little obligate carnivore should not be ingesting. Ignore the reviews complaining about the appearance--it's cat food and the only way to cover that up would be to add coloring or some pointless preservative This is one of only two cat foods being sold that are 100% beef. It's pure canned meat and obviously it won't look like other brands. That white stuff isn't mold, it's just fat particles that have solidified. I feed my cat 30g, four times a day. I mix the food 1:1 with water, so he gets 60g per meal (30g food/30g water). When I have the time, I heat the food/water mixture for 10-15 seconds in the microwave, and it mixes to a thick cream. He loves it and is in perfect shape, skinny and vet-approved. … more

    Newman’s Own Organic Beef flavor.

    By on

I’m trying to make sure my cats get the healthiest food possible but they won’t eat but a couple bites of the beef flavor, then turn their noses up at it. They will eat other flavors that have a little gravy in it like the chicken or chicken and salmon, just not the beef.

    they like it

    By on

We've been feeding our cats the turkey and chicken and decided to branch out. All 3 of them seem to like the beef even better. I feel confident feeding them organically-sourced meats from Newman's Own, for their health, for the environment and for the animals' quality of life.

Too bad it has carrageenan - won't order again

    By on

I wanted another limited ingredient wholesome canned food for our 14 y/o diabetic cat with IBD who's allergic to chicken. I thought this was the perfect addition to his diet, but somehow overlooked it has carrageenan in it. That is really too bad for an organic product. I refuse to use any product with Carrageenan in our household of 6 cats - the Humane Society will get the whole case.

    Reality check....

    By on

I have been using Newmans Own Organic (NOO) cat food for years starting with the original Paul Newman's organic for cats. I have a senior cat, a 4 year old and an 8 month old. All rescue cats...a Ragdoll and 2 Tortiseshell cats. The kitten came to me very sick with what a Vetinarian speculated was IBS. She was about 2-3 months when I received her and had no exposure to organic food and had diarrhea and leaked from her bottom and that was awful. I started her on organic bone broth and organic pumpkin and eased into NOO cat food and she was able to tolerate only the beef at first. For the last six months she has eaten primarily the beef food but now eats the chicken and liver and she is much better I have been using Newmans Own Organic (NOO) cat food for years starting with the original Paul Newman's organic for cats. Cat food is never going to look like human food...although I have more than once seen human food look like cat food....the beef in NOO is not colored or chemically preserved. While maybe someone got an off case is feasible in our country but the companies stepped up, took responsibility and did so without question. If you can afford organic pet food and do not like what's out there you can afford to buy organic meat or chicken and make your own....many people do this. Then you will have peace of mind because you know what is going into your babies mouths. Right now I will stick to NOO. … more
