Learn More About Nina Ottosson From Our Team of Experts
Did you know that 15 minutes of mental exercise can have a similar effect on your dog’s emotional well-being as 30 minutes of physical exercise? Dogs love to explore and problem solve and will use their noses and paws as tools. Each Nina Ottoson puzzle toy game is designed with your dog’s natural behaviors, senses and safety in mind.
Reduce Unwanted Behaviors
Setting your dog to work on a puzzle or game helps focus his attention and energy. This mental redirection can help reduce boredom, anxiety and destructive behaviors, too. Try using puzzle toys to distract your dog from fireworks, thunderstorms and other stressful situations.
Four Levels of Play
All dogs are different. That’s why each treat puzzle toy was designed with a different level of difficulty—to please dogs of all skill levels, whether they are beginners or puzzle-solving pros. Start by choosing a level that suits your pup’s skill set and level up as he learns!
Level 1
Perfect for beginners, these puzzles help gain interest and prepare dogs for puzzles to come.
Level 2
Features added obstacles, requiring your dog to combine actions to retrieve each tasty reward.
Level 3
These advanced puzzles challenge your dog to complete several steps in order to reach the hidden treats.
Level 4
This is the hardest level and requires multiple steps and problem-solving skills to solve!
For Bonding and Training
Nina Ottosson puzzle games are a great way to build your relationship with a newly adopted dog or help a shy dog come out of his shell. You can also use puzzles to help train your dog and practice basic commands like “sit” and “stay”.

We have 10 dogs and foster on top of that! 🤦♀️ The 7 corgis mastered it pretty quickly, the Pittie acted like it was beneath her. Our rat terrier, that can eat a house to rid it of chipmunks looked at me like I was crazy, but I'm sure if she didn't have 7 corgis breathing down her neck, she would ace it! The Shepherd is afraid of her own shadow so it was a bit loud for her. (Mill Rescued) All of our dogs are rescued and pretty smart based on this game.☺️ I volunteer at the local human society as well and I would love to but more for the pups there! I would highly recommend! For the people that day it's too easy...it is still challenging and fun for the dogs...just keep filling it up!

Not good for cats
I purchased this dog food puzzle hoping it would be okay for my cat, who loves his three Nina Ottosson cat food puzzles but would benefit from more variety. Although he could use this one, the slightly deeper food crevices made him avoid this puzzle. I wish Nina Ottosson would make more puzzles for cats. I passed this one along to a friend with a dog.

Beginner Puzzle
I brought this for my dog to add to our puzzle collection. I wanted something that would be a bit of a challenge and saw this was a step two so figured it may be more like the tornado which we already own.
This is really a step 1 beginner Puzzle. It's insanely easy and is really more for dogs that have never used puzzles before.

Beginners play
This is the first puzzle activity my new pupper has tried and she got it pretty quickly. It was fun to watch her figure it out but this is definitely beginner so it may be better to go up a level for some dogs.

OH Hide N Slide dog toy
My mom makes me work for every lousy kibble. Like my regular meal...not even an extra treat!!
I should report her to the SPCA.
The slides were easy enough, but dropping kibble down those small holes required 2 steps to get them and that was a little harder on my not - so - clever brain.
Add it to the dog puzzle library to trade back and forth with friends.
Ps....I'm a Cairn and sniff and nose more than paw.

Dog was too smart
I was eager to try this out with my dogs and of the three, only one was interested. She was able to solve it in under five minutes, which makes me think I needed the next level up (who knew?). It was fun to watch her figure it out, but it was pretty easy.
Additionally, this item is well-made and washes well in the dishwasher (top rack).

Good for rough dogs
Both of my dogs like to play rough and destroy most toys, so I really didn't want any interactive toys with removeable parts. This one is perfect! It's not too hard or too easy, and they can't remove and eat any pieces of plastic. I would always recommend supervising your dogs with this sort of toy.

way too easy
I got this for my 12 week old Bernedoodle puppy. She was able to get all the treats within about 20 second. There was no effort or puzzle involved at all. I tried doing it multiple ways, having either the knobs or the little wings blocking the holes, even knobs with wings in the way so that it would possibly be more difficult. The hardest part for her was just getting the kibble out of the little holes. I think if you have a larger breed dog they will struggle to get their tongues in there. But this was a waste of money for us. It is large and heavy plastic and offered no challenge at all.

T-Roy's new toy
He had this figured out in 10 mintues the first time and just got faster. I was hoping it would take him longer he likes it but no challange. If your dog is not just somewhat smart could be a great toy T-Roy is a Aussie.

Good but TOO EASY!
I got these because they didn't have any parts that came off, but the pups flew threw it in less than a minute!! So WAY TOO EASY!! It's a great puzzle though.
