I bought one of these puzzles for each of my college-age daughters to give their cats something to do while their Mama's are in class, and they both learned it very quickly and now get crazy excited when they hear the word "puzzle". Because one of the kitties is calorie-restricted, we put her daily dental chews and some bonito flakes in the little wells, so as not to inundate her with calories. I would absolutely recommend!
It took a few tries with high-value treats before my cat figured out that this toy was a source of food. She ignored it at first. Now she quickly solves the hardest level (leaves turned to close the cups, treats hidden in the ladybugs). It calms her down when she goes crazy when I’m trying to fall asleep and she wants to play. Definitely doesn’t replace play of course, but provides some enrichment to your kitty
I have a hard time keeping my cat entertained it took her a few try’s to figure it out but now she can do it no problem and it keeps her busy for a while and it keeps her mind active so it’s good oh but sometimes treats get caught in like the crack between the light green and the dark green but if I fiddle with it for a second I can get them out
I have a few Nina Ottosson cat puzzle toys that my cats love. I expected that this would be another winner, but I am mistaken. My female understood the game, but one of her claws got stuck between moving parts. In her effort to release her paw, she dragged the toy around for several seconds. She is terrified of this toy now. This episode happened under my supervision. I don't see how I could have prevented it from happening. Nina Ottosson makes better puzzles that won't scare or injure your cat.
We bought this for our very active, 5-month-old kitten. He has figured out what to do quickly, but is not as food-driven as our nine-year old cat who is nearly blind! Zuzu is a rescue who had to have one eye removed as a kitten, and the other eye has a lot of scar tissue. She loves her treats and will work on this as long as it takes her to find the hidden goodies. I'm so happy we bought this!
This was a great choice for my two cats, my 8yr old and 7months Kit and teeter, for getting treats, there is actually three ways to hide them. Both my kitties figured it out, it was so funny..because I was trying to show my kitty how to do it...and whoa and behold he just went to it like it he knew all along.
This toy surpassed my expectations because both of my crazy cats have figured this out and really enjoy "hunting" for food. I started with treats but have downgraded to kibble because they both have been emptying it regularly. I move it around the house so they have a fun activity. Since I use hard treats/kibble I really haven't had to do much more than wipe it out. My guys are 7 and 1 and have really not had a problem figuring out how to get the food out. I don't stand and watch them but rely on finding it empty each morning. I recommend this for even picky lazy cats.
This is very cute and seems well made but my cats and kitten are not interested in it at all. I put the good treats in it and they still don't care. I highly recommend for people with pets that love to find food and like this sort of thing. I would recommend to a friend if they already have a pet that has something similar like a Kong toy that the cat or dog loves.
I can tell this is a nicely made product that I'm sure some pets love, hence the 3 stars. But my cats won't engage with this toy and have left treats behind for days. They even display strong foraging instincts and still won't play with it. Not for us!
Mochi is of the opinion that the leaf is filled every day with treats, and he tells me loudly and often. This puzzle is a great way for trickster cats to do their thief activities without actually getting into your cabinets.
