Most commercial pet foods include baseline vitamins and nutrients, but some may not have the adequate amount to suit your pet’s exact health needs. Consult your veterinarian to determine the best vitamins and supplements for your furry friend.

I just noticed I’m supposed to refrigerate after opening. I haven’t been doing this after almost finishing the 16-oz size. Could this cause burping with my dog? Any side effects or adverse reactions from not refrigerating opened product?
Answer by • Dec 08, 2020
While this liquid product must be refrigerated once opened and used within 90 days, this is not the cause of any "fish burps", repeating, etc. These common side effects are related almost exclusively to one of two things; The first is manufacturing. Most fish oils are manufactured in the Ethyl Ester (EE) form. This is not bad however in the EE form the fish oil is not as absorbed by the body thus resulting in these common side effects - this is why most people associate the "fish burps" with fish oil. Nordic Naturals products, including their Pet Line, are manufactured in the superior Triglyceride (TG) form. In this form the fish oil is 70% more absorbed thus almost completely eliminating these common side effects. That said, the second cause can simply be sensitive digestion. Some pets (and humans) simply have a sensitive stomach to fish oils which could still cause some of these side effects like "fish burps". Something to try would be giving the pet less fish oil. Try giving the pet a greatly reduced size of the recommended serving for a few days then slowly build up to the regular serving size. Alternatively sometimes giving 1 or 2 smaller servings a day may help rather than the regular serving once a day.
How is this product distilled?
Answer by • Dec 22, 2017
Nordic Naturals fish oils are distilled for purity, using the latest distillation technology, to effectively remove potentially harmful environmental toxins. All of their oils are third-party tested by independent laboratories to verify the removal of heavy metals and over 210 environmental contaminants. The analysis is based on the toxicity equivalent methodology established by the World Health Organization (WHO). Nordic Naturals fish oils are guaranteed to have no detectable levels of lead, mercury, dioxins, or PCBs in accordance with the limits set by the Norwegian Medicinal Standards (NMS), European Pharmacopoeia Standards (EPS), Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), and (WHO).
Ok my veterinarian told me that I needed to start giving her this but at the end of the month she wants her to be taking 2700mg daily so I justed wanted to know how much is in a single dose
Answer by • May 19, 2019
A single teaspoon will contain 782 mg EPA, 460 mg DHA and 1426 mg total omega-3s.
We have been researching most the different genres regarding the addition of Omega 3 - 6 - 9 and Ratio best suited for your pets diet. Theories suggesting over use / dosing/ and therapy. My husband and I decided that we would add it to our 4 months old’s raw diet at 4: 1. for a short period until we could further research availability in the foods being fed. ABSOLUTELY EXCITED to receive the product. NORDIC NATURALS ticked all the “boxes” / We discovered we had left a box unchecked OUR 3 Malamutes Me-Ya 6 YEARS, Willow 1 YEAR AND YHE YOUNGSTER “Asa” 5 months old & 62lbs gave us the “Look” backing away from the bowls. We got The STINK-EYE / A VOCAL VOTE of WT? / 1 lifted lip. We Believe Nordic Naturals Omegas for large breed dogs to be above industry standards- we however are now searching out further information/ evidence from both HOLISTIC AND STANDARDIZED VERIFIED VETERINARY STUDIES. Lots of papers to review regarding the breakdown of oils in dry foods / freeze dried foods and what foods you are feeding in your dogs raw diet already contain proper levels as well as the oils sourced. Our conclusion is a vote for Anchovy Oil/ our dogs unanimously voted NO .We would recommend this product above others if you decide to supplement your dogs diet.

Good stuff
Easy to use. I pour a teaspoon over my dog’s dry food once a day and he doesn’t even notice it. His coat is shiny and his skin is much less flaky. And no messy fish oil capsules to pierce.

So far, so good
It's a little bit too soon to tell if there's any difference in my dog's skin and coat, but I can say that so far, there has not been any adverse reaction to this product. Also, there is absolutely NO fishy smell, which is good.

DOGS APPROVE
EVEN MY FUSSY DOG LIKES THIS. WE JUST PUT 1 TEASPOON ON HIS KIBBLE AND HE TAKES THIS LIKE A TREAT. VERY LITTLE ODOR, AND THE ONLY CON I HAVE IS LIKE OTHER REVIEWERS HAVE WRITTEN: THE BOTTLE IS MESSY WHEN POURING ( WE KEEP OURS INSIDE A DISH IN THE REFRIGERATOR). IN SLIGHTLY OVER A WEEK HIS HAIR IS RETURNING NICELY AFTER HE ITCHED AND SCRATCHED IT OFF THIS SUMMER.

Upset stomach
My boy has a VERY sensitive stomach and this seemed to make it worse. Maybe if your fur baby doesn’t have stomach issues it’ll work for you, but we’ll have to switch back to Zesty Paws Salmon Bites.

A miraculous addition
My lab mix is 11 and after starting this slowly, only half the dose, his skin is glossy, his joints better and he is definitely happier and playing with toys again. Couldn’t be more glad to add this product to his daily routine.

Seems to be helping
My pitmix started to have terrible allergies and my vet recommended to start an omega supplement and this one seems to be the best. It also didn’t upset her very sensitive stomach.

BEST for Omegas
Multiple vets recommended this product! Was surprised has no odor, especially bc ALL THREE of our dogs seems to like this ...so must have some kind of yummy flavor? My son and I have been using this brand in human form capsules AND vitamins for YEARS bc was recommended by his gastrointerologist when he was young. EASY to give, just pour into measuring spoon and put on their food. Not sure why some people say it is messy.
