Description

NRG Optimum Large Breed & Active Canine Free Range Beef Dehydrated Raw Dog Food uses ingredients that recall a time when working dogs ate food prepared in the family kitchen. Crafted with both cooked and raw dehydrated free-range beef along with fresh fruits and vegetables, NRG Optimum is recommended for large breeds, canine athletes and dogs that are new to all-natural feeding. The mix of vegetable and oat fiber soothes the intestinal tract of dogs whose size or activity dictates that their bowl must be filled to the brim.

Feeding Instructions

Dehydration essentially preserves the enzymes in whole food by removing the moisture to slow their activity. To prepare dehydrated foods for consumption, water is simply added back to the food. For every cup of dry food measured, add 1/2 - 3/4 cup of warm water. Mix well and allow to refresh for 20 - 30 minutes before serving. For more complete digestion and smaller stools, split the ration into 2 feedings: morning and evening. Refrigerate leftovers.

For every 20 lbs your dog weighs, feed approximately 1 cup of NRG dry measure. Dogs, just like people, may require more or less than the suggested serving depending on activity level and age.

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog’s diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 5 – 7 day period.

FAQ

Can I mix NRG with other foods?

While feeding NRG as a sole diet will provide the best of benefits for your pet, lifestyle decisions dictate what and how your pet is fed. NRG can be fed in conjunction with other diets to your champion pet with amazing results.

I feed kibble, can I top it with NRG instead of canned food?

NRG is the premium replacement for canned food. Our diets are powerfully palatable and rich in all the natural vitamins and minerals your dog requires.

I feed raw. Is NRG compatible?

If a raw diet is part of your feeding protocol, NRG can be a positive addition. Offer NRG as a separate meal daily to provide the balanced portion of the diet. This will maximize the contribution to your pets’ good health.

Why does Maxim contain wheat germ?

Many dogs today have an intolerance for grains. The trigger for this intolerance is gluten and wheat germ does not contain any gluten. We include wheat germ in all our formulas because it is the most digestible natural source of many nutrients.

I have been told my dog is allergic to grain. Which NRG diets can my dog eat?

Dogs that have an allergy to grain are usually intolerant to the gluten in wheat as it has been overused in pet food for decades. In human medicine people with wheat allergies substitute oats and we find many dogs with a wheat intolerance can do very well on Vital II and Optimum. Maxim is the obvious choice if your dogs last reaction to any grain was severe.

  • Perfect for my GSD with disgestive issues

    By on

NRG's dehydrated food is the only food my German Shepherd can eat without getting diarrhea. My GSD has Crohn's disease and was virtually living off antibiotics every week. Tried all the high end healthy dried dog food and nothing worked until I came across NRG. He had not had any issues for over 9 months now. Can't say enough how thankful I am with this food.

  • Gobble worthy

    By on

My dog absolutely adores his new food. He even licks the empty food bowl just in case a stray remnant remains. It is easy to prepare and once you get used to the routine of preparing the next meal while feeding the ready to go meal it takes no time at all. Just remember to refrigerate the meal once it is hydrated and ready for use later. I feed our dog twice a day.

  • It's fine; dog liked it

    By on

I wanted to try this food and see if there was a noticeable difference in my dog. I only bought this small pouch and since my dog is nearly 90 lbs. it only lasted me 2.5 days. I don't know if you can detect a change in that time. Dog liked it, and I did think her stools were more solid, but I didn't notice a substantial difference for the price it would cost to keep her on it.

  • Great food, but

    By on

I have two Saint Bernards, trying to find them food they like is becoming a game. I have tried almost every dehydrated food on chewy and they snub their noses at it. They prefer Taste of the Wild kibble and canned every time. And while I do not like them eating kibble, they are strongly for it. This food is my second choice to Dr. Harvey's Canine Health. Nrg does not smell bad, and looks like dehydrated hamburger chunks. A little powdery at the bottom of the bag, so make sure to mix it up before you open it.
