Feeding Instructions

Dehydration essentially preserves the enzymes in whole food by removing the moisture to slow their activity. To prepare dehydrated foods for consumption, water is simply added back to the food. For every cup of dry food measured, add 1/2 - 3/4 cup of warm water. Mix well and allow to refresh for 20 - 30 minutes before serving. For more complete digestion and smaller stools, split the ration into 2 feedings: morning and evening. Refrigerate leftovers.

For every 20 lbs your dog weighs, feed approximately 1 cup of NRG dry measure. Dogs, just like people, may require more or less than the suggested serving depending on activity level and age.

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog’s diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 5 – 7 day period.

FAQ

Can I mix NRG with other foods?

While feeding NRG as a sole diet will provide the best of benefits for your pet, lifestyle decisions dictate what and how your pet is fed. NRG can be fed in conjunction with other diets to your champion pet with amazing results.

I feed kibble, can I top it with NRG instead of canned food?

NRG is the premium replacement for canned food. Our diets are powerfully palatable and rich in all the natural vitamins and minerals your dog requires.

I feed raw. Is NRG compatible?

If a raw diet is part of your feeding protocol, NRG can be a positive addition. Offer NRG as a separate meal daily to provide the balanced portion of the diet. This will maximize the contribution to your pets’ good health.

Why does Maxim contain wheat germ?

Many dogs today have an intolerance for grains. The trigger for this intolerance is gluten and wheat germ does not contain any gluten. We include wheat germ in all our formulas because it is the most digestible natural source of many nutrients.

I have been told my dog is allergic to grain. Which NRG diets can my dog eat?

Dogs that have an allergy to grain are usually intolerant to the gluten in wheat as it has been overused in pet food for decades. In human medicine people with wheat allergies substitute oats and we find many dogs with a wheat intolerance can do very well on Vital II and Optimum. Maxim is the obvious choice if your dogs last reaction to any grain was severe.

NRG is the best Dehydrated dog food

    By on

My opinion NRG is the best Dehydrated dog food out there. It is not like the others that turn to mush when hydrated. It is full of chunks of meat and vegetables. I bought the Raw one which has over 50% meat. The beef is Canadian free ranged. I have 2 small breed dogs and they really like it. I have not tried the chicken or salmon but I am sure it is great as well.

    Love this product

I have been searching for quality food without tons of plastic (or styrofoam!)to the landfills and oceans. NRG is the answer. One foil bag in one cardboard box feeds Mabel for a week. Will order larger size to maximize that benefit next time. And there will definitely be a next time Like immediately. Now, how does Mabel like it? She's is a cranky picky eater. She likes most foods the first time and then sometimes yes, sometimes no. With any food we hsve to mix in some extra people food (a little rice or cheese) to get her to eat it. Withholding one star for the fact that Mabel does not chow down enthusiasticly may not be fair. food our selective eater likes

    By on

We have an 8 year old husky who is the most difficult dog to feed I've ever dealt with. He was skin and bones when we got him a couple years ago and refuses to eat most foods. When we do get him to eat something, he will eat it a time or two and then refuse it. A friend gave us some of NRG The Raw One and he ate it and has continued to eat it for 3 weeks now! He will even eat the kibble he refused before if we mix it in with this food. Bonus is how healthy this is for him!

Love this free range dog food!

    By on

My 8 year old pit bull has food sensitivities and I was worried that he would not do well on this food. He is doing great! I also have a 19 year old (not a typo) staff/bull terrier who is also doing great on this food. They both absolutely LOVE it. And I love that it is free range, and not a lot of unnecessary ingredients. I rehydrate it for about 20 minutes. It is easy to use, easy to travel with and I believe is an excellent food for them.

My dogs went crazy for it!

    By on

We have a few older dogs in our family that needed to loose some weight and one that gets very bad skin allergies. So we wanted to try something that was healthy and good tasting for them. When I first opened this food I immediately knew they were going to love it. It’s smells like a five course meal and they all went nuts for it. Even our smaller husky who is very picky when it comes to eating.

    High Quality Product

    By on

My two 10 1/2 year old Goldens had put on too much weight with kibble. I am using this product with home cooked dog foods to reduce their weight. In less than a month, both girls have lost pounds I was not able to get off of them in any other way. I am so impressed with this product that came highly recommended by a golden breeder friend.

A big hit with me and the pups

    By on

This raw dog food is one of the best I've tried so far. Although it is somewhat pricey, the ingredients look and smell like actual meat and vegetables. The dogs love it and bark while it is re-hydrating they are so excited to eat it. I will buy this again!

My dogs love this food! Firm Poops!

    By on

My greyhound and my little mutt love this food. They get so excited at dinner time. I love the ingredients in the food. It’s worth the price for quality. My greyhound in particular Has had some issues with dog food. In the past she has either been picky and just decided that she doesn’t like her food, or the food has made Her poop runny. Runny poop is common for greyhounds, so it’s a miracle that this food keeps ours firm!
