Feeding Instructions

Dehydration essentially preserves the enzymes in whole food by removing the moisture to slow their activity. To prepare dehydrated foods for consumption, water is simply added back to the food. For every cup of dry food measured, add 1/2 - 3/4 cup of warm water. Mix well and allow to refresh for 20 - 30 minutes before serving. For more complete digestion and smaller stools, split the ration into 2 feedings: morning and evening. Refrigerate leftovers.

For every 20 lbs your dog weighs, feed approximately 1 cup of NRG dry measure. Dogs, just like people, may require more or less than the suggested serving depending on activity level and age.

Transition Instructions

When switching your dog’s diet, we recommend that it be done gradually over a 5 – 7 day period.

FAQ

Can I mix NRG with other foods?

While feeding NRG as a sole diet will provide the best of benefits for your pet, lifestyle decisions dictate what and how your pet is fed. NRG can be fed in conjunction with other diets to your champion pet with amazing results.

I feed kibble, can I top it with NRG instead of canned food?

NRG is the premium replacement for canned food. Our diets are powerfully palatable and rich in all the natural vitamins and minerals your dog requires.

I feed raw. Is NRG compatible?

If a raw diet is part of your feeding protocol, NRG can be a positive addition. Offer NRG as a separate meal daily to provide the balanced portion of the diet. This will maximize the contribution to your pets’ good health.

Why does Maxim contain wheat germ?

Many dogs today have an intolerance for grains. The trigger for this intolerance is gluten and wheat germ does not contain any gluten. We include wheat germ in all our formulas because it is the most digestible natural source of many nutrients.

I have been told my dog is allergic to grain. Which NRG diets can my dog eat?

Dogs that have an allergy to grain are usually intolerant to the gluten in wheat as it has been overused in pet food for decades. In human medicine people with wheat allergies substitute oats and we find many dogs with a wheat intolerance can do very well on Vital II and Optimum. Maxim is the obvious choice if your dogs last reaction to any grain was severe.

    Healthy and great

    By on

I stopped giving my dog Maya dry food cause no matter how healthy I bought it there was always stuff in there that wasn’t good for her. So I found this. It’s expensive but it’s great! I mix some of this with human grade wet dog food along with my personal blend of Veggies, fruits, peanut butter, and honey steamed. She’s more active, fur is so soft that people think she’s still a puppy. I want my dog to live as long as possible and I think this brand is on the right path for that.

    Dog did NOT like it

1st bowl took my 85 lb Dogo Argentino 35 minutes to finish it. The next morning he looked so disappointed that I served it to him again for breakfast and took 3 very small and slow bites then walked away. Tried yet again at dinner and he just walked back to his bed without eating a lick.

    Great dog food.

Usually buy the beef and now I am also purchasing the salmon for it’s good benefits. Our 11 year old golden retriever loves this food and her body is doing very well. For the first time the box the dog food was packed in was very damaged so I took pictures and sent them to Customer Service. They said they would replace item if contents were not acceptable but it is o-k. Highly recommend this dog food though.

    Amazing food

    By on

I am feeding this as 1/3 of her diet... She is a German Shepherd that had horrific skin problems a few months ago...staph, yeast and she was not putting on weight.. she was not skinny by any means but I would say prob 5 pounds under her ideal weight. The Vet treated her with antibiotics and some topical meds.. but she was only on them 10 days.. she started itching again so I changed her kibble to a high quality brand duck as the primary protein... and saw a good improvement.... but as soon as I added this food the improvement is nothing short of amazing.. her coat is thickening up and shines, her skin is a healthy color.. she has put on at least 5 pounds. Her energy is over the top.. and keep I am feeding this as 1/3 of her diet... Dogs love it

We wanted a better food than what we had and tried NRG. Our huskies and Shepard’s love it. They have more energy and thier coat feels 100% better. Just wish it was a little cheaper since we are feeding 8 and we go thru a box rather quickly.

My 5 dogs will not eat this product.

My 5 Yorkies smelled the food and walked away. Would not eat it even when it was left on the floor for hours. I eventually had to pick it up and threw away in the garbage.

    Finally no itching

    By on

My two shih tzus seemed to be allergic to all off-the-shelf dog foods. I began to suspect the preservatives were the problem so I made their food for years. When they were about seven years old I found a food brand made in Canada which listed no preservatives. For a couple years my dogs ate this brand and then began to itch again. I learned the food had begun to be produced in Kentucky and sure enough, preservatives were included in the ingredient list. Back to making their food. Now the dogs are eleven and I recently found NRG brands foods which listed no preservatives. I am very happy to report the dogs can eat the food and treats from this company and they love the taste.
