Transition Instructions
When first introducing your pet to Nulo, we recommend slowly transitioning over the course of 5 to 7 days to reduce the risk of digestive upset that can occur with a rapid change in diet. We recommend portioning 25% of the new food on the first day mixed with 75% of the former food. Over the course of several days, gradually increase this ratio until you are feeding 100% of the new food. This will allow your pet's digestive system time to adjust to any new ingredients and will help to ensure a smooth transition. Mixing up proteins can be a great way to provide variety to your pet's diet. Once your pet has transitioned to the Nulo platform, rotating between recipes is generally seamless!
These protein-rich diets have proteins from animal sources as the first 3-4 ingredients. Low-carb and low-glycemic ingredients provide stable energy levels, while the proprietary BC30 probiotic aids digestive and immune health. Plus, they’re made without pea protein, white potatoes, corn, tapioca, wheat or soy.
Raising the Bar on What’s in Their Bowl
From their careful selection of ingredients—like protein-rich turkey, lamb, salmon, chicken, beef and duck—to low-glycemic carb source choices like lentils, chickpeas, barley, oat, millet and sweet potatoes, Nulo approaches pet food the way they approach everything—no shortcuts allowed.

I have been feeding my cats Nulo medal series.
It's still grain free for indoor cats.
What is the difference in the Nulo Freestyle series?
I also feed my dogs Nulo weight control from the medal series. Is the Freestyle series going to offer the same results? I can tell a huge improvement my "kids".
Answer by • Feb 13, 2019
Nulo Freestyle compared to the Medal Series are quite similar, the main difference is the Freestyle line features no chicken or egg products in their recipes, while the Medal Series does feature chicken in their recipes.

What is meal product in cat food? Is it good for cats?

The chicken meal is made up of chicken that has been ground and cooked, reducing the fat content to create a protein-rich ingredient. It’s high in protein and amino acids to help strengthen and maintain your pet’s muscles. I was trying to find a cleaner/healthier dry food for my kitties due to some health and behavior issues. This was my top choice to try, and my kitties instantly approved! Very easy transition. They don't mind the small kibble, and they seem to love the flavor. The price is less then I was paying for food with more filler, so a win win! I love that they're eating more meat and no byproducts!

Great!
I have been feeding the kitten and cat version of this Freestyle line to my 10 month old kitten since she was 6 weeks old. She loves it. She loves food so that’s wasn’t surprising. Recently I started adding/ mixing 50/50 this indoor formula to the existing one because Mona really really likes to eat and while she is not overweight, that just might be in her future and we want to prevent that. She is a big cat overall, 11lbs at 10 months old. She also gets wet food daily, but she really really loves this dry food brand. About 6 weeks ago we took in another kitten, she is about 6 months now and she loves this brand, too.
I’ve fed this brand and line before, too, to previous cats we’ve had. Overall, my vet has always approved of it, there have never been any recalls, the ingredients are well above average and all my cats have had very good digestion (no horrible smell either), very healthy coats with very little shedding, minimal hairballs and just really all of them were healthy well into old age. They all also eat a good quality wet food daily though, just to mention. The only downside to this brand might be the price especially if you have a large number of cats, it is on the pricey side.

A mixed bag!...
My two cats didn't like it much, so I tried feeding it to abandoned cats left in a vacant apartment building near mine. I'm helping a group called Friends of Feral Felines to catch them and bring to our local animal shelter. They seem to eat it fine. Thank you Chewy.

Good nutrition bad for finicky eaters
Overall Twinkie likes blue buffalo and nulo but he's a variety cat. This gives him gas but thoroughly cleans out his digestive system. I feel good about nulo products even if they are expensive tends to get stale if left two days or longer due to lean duck. He eats more of it if he has lickables. Could create a fussie cat situation easily but overall the outstanding quality and OUTSTANDING SUPERIOR nutrition makes it a good choice or splurge for pet.

Feline Approved
I received a sample of this awhile back and tried it. I have an elderly boy who threw up just about everything he ate, and two other younger ones - all with varied tastes. First thing noticed was the size of the kibble, perfectly small - actually sized for a cat. The bag had a velcro type closure which is nice as well. Most importantly, though, was that ALL of the cats loved it! (The dogs of course, too). My 19 yr old cat with severe arthritis was losing weight and we thought the end was near for him. He ate this, kept it down and gained his weight back. He quickly got stronger and is truly thriving!

Our 2 cats love it
They've been eating this since they were babies, and they still love it. We feed them half this and half wet food.

KITTIES 4 NULO
I have tried many different brands of dry kibble for my kitties. I feed about 80% wet/ 20% dry. My 5 kitties do like the taste of nulo and I like thar the first 4 ingredients are meat. Since the kibble is so tiny, I mix in a can if their favorite wet food with about 3/4 cup dry kibble so the wet food acts as a binder. I will definitely keep nulo in their rotation along with solid gold.

Nulo Freestyle Duck & Lentils
6 cats. 3 inside, 3 outside feral. Not one would eat it. Bought before I found out lentils are not good for cats. Didn't matter. They won't touch it.

Nulo Indoor Dry Cat Food
My cat use to eat Iams for many years from kitten to adult and that’s what my mother raised our cats on so I didn’t know how bad the products really were in most of these cheaper cat foods. Even purina, science diet and royal canine are the most popularized yet the MOST terrible for our animals. After doing lots of research Here is why:
Our cats are carnivores and our dogs are omnivores (like us). Dogs can eat grains for a while balanced diet however cats should be eating PROTEIN. Cats literally cannot break down CORN, WHEAT, vegetables are fine for a fibrous diet but our cats should have their first 5 ingredients (which is what the food is mostly consisted of) as protein. Nulos first five ingredients are always protein as well as a lot of other important vitamins included for ultimate health. My indoor cat was pushing 13 pounds and slimmed down to 7.5 pounds in about a year eating Nulo dry that’s the only difference I did was change her dry food and she is so much healthier happier and so am I! Seeing our pets thrive is part of our duty as pet parents! Thank you Nulo for providing great high quality protein products for our animals to THRIVE!
