Questions & Answers

6 Customer Questions

I know these are filled by weight, not number, but could you please provide an approximate number (or range) of treats per bag? If their calorie count is known, they are uniform enough for the manufacturer to know how many treats are in the bag, give or take a couple of treats.
Answer by ChewyDec 22, 2019
The number of treats will vary some as this package is sold by weight, not quantity. It may contain close to 168 treats.

Are the treats made in the US of US-sourced ingredients?
Answer by ChewyNov 27, 2019
These treats are made in the USA. Nulo's meat, poultry, and fish are sourced from North America, with the exception of some of their duck (France), lamb (Australia & New Zealand), and wild-caught fish (regions can vary based on the migratory path of the wild population). Their fruits, vegetables, vitamins, and minerals are sourced in North America as well as regions throughout the world, but are always traced and required to meet strict safety and quality standards. None of Nulo’s ingredients are sourced from China, with the exception of select vitamin supplements that can only be sourced from there.

One of the ingredients listed is cherries. I’ve read that cherry stems and pits contain cyanide and are poisonous to dogs. Is this treat safe? Why would they be included? What’s the nutritional value?
Answer by ChewyFeb 03, 2021
These treats are safe for pets to consume. The flesh of a cherry is safe for dogs to eat. Cherries contain vitamins A and C, fiber and antioxidants, which are good for dogs. Specific parts of the cherry should not be consumed by pets. The cherry pit, stem and leaves are toxic to dogs if ingested in large enough quantities.

The ingredient list names "natural flavor". What is the flavor?
Answer by ChewyAug 13, 2020
The Natural Flavor is derived from the locust bean. For a complete list of ingredients click on the 'Nutritional Info' tab, next to the 'Description' tab, just under the product photos.

17-Year-Old Shih-Poo Meal Topper

Max, my 17 yr old Shih-Poo with limited sight and hearing, some missing teeth and bladder stones (getting old is tough) has to eat prescription food. He was completely over having the same kibble and canned food mixed every day and often refused to eat. I would even try and spoon-feed it to him because he was starting to lose weight. The Nulo Salmon Training Treats came with the Nulo Limited Salmon dog food I had ordered for my puppy. I gave him a few as toppers on his food and now he rushes to his bowl to eat. He is drawn by the smell and loves the taste.

Ingredients on Package Different

Reviewed the ingredients prior to purchasing as my dog has many allergies. Upon receiving I reviewed the ingredients and noticed that Dried Ground Peas were included as the 3rd ingredient which my dog is allergic to (chickpeas were mentioned on both). Product pictures/description should be updated.

picky dog liked them but questionable ingredients

I don't like the ingredient list. Look up the DCM links from the FDA studies if you want to know why. However, my picky dog liked them and ate them as a training treat.

Dogs all loved them

I got these as I needed healthy, grain free 'smelly' treats for training in scent work and my dogs went absolutely nuts over them. Great price for a good quality treat.

Great Treats for small dogs

These are great small treats for training. I have a toy sized puppy. The treats are soft and easy to break up for very small dogs, and my little girl loves them. Same treats my trainer uses in the puppy board and train program she offers. Good stuff!

My dogs' favorite treats

My dog LOVES these treats! I normally get them in-store, they came stale from Chewy.

Tasty Treats

I use Nulo dog food on my dog that had a terrible tummy in her early years. All goes well now, so when I wanted to add a training treat- totally stuck with Nulo. They are lo-cal and wether a new bag and soft or a bit drier, my dog loves them.

Gross, smell nasty

Like most of chewy's treats, my dog hates these and won't touch them. I even tried to give them to the neighbor dogs and they wouldn't touch them. I don't see how they sell these as training treats when dogs want nothing to do with them. I'm so sorry I spent $100 worth of treats from this company when my dog only likes one of them.
