Questions & Answers

8 Customer Questions

About how many cups is in each bag?
Answer by ChewyNov 08, 2018
The 5 ounce bag contains just over 3 cups of food and the 13 ounce bag contains just over 8 cups of food.

Are the ingredients human-grade?
Answer by ChewyDec 16, 2022
The meat and poultry ingredients used in this food are processed in USDA-inspected facilities (or meet equivalent standards in the case of imported ingredients like our New Zealand Lamb), have passed as fit for human consumption, and the animals are healthy at the time of processing. The moment any ingredient enters a pet food kitchen, it can no longer be classified as human-grade per the Association of American Feed Control Officials. In order to be classified as “human-grade," the food would have to be processed in a human food kitchen

Is the salmon Wild caught or farmed Salmon?
Answer by ChewyFeb 27, 2023
Much of Nulo's salmon is wild-caught from both Pacific and Atlantic waters, and includes a variety of species: Chinook (King), Chum (Keta), Humpy (Pink), Sockeye (Red), Coho (Silver), and Alaskan. For salmon that is farm-raised, they source from reputable fisheries that adhere to all relevant environmental standards to produce safe, high-quality ingredients. As part of an intensive quality control program, all of their fish ingredients are tested for potential contaminants including heavy metals like mercury, to ensure that they are safe. Nulo also requires that their fish is sourced naturally-preserved without the use of ethoxyquin. A certificate of analysis (COA) is required to accompany every ingredient upon arrival to the pet food kitchen to ensure that it meets their strict requirements for nutrient and microbiological analysis before being used in their product.

I want to feed this as a topper. I'm wondering how much to feed for a 40 lb dog that gets two cups of dry food daily and a 28lb dog that gets 1 1/4 cps dry food daily? feeding recommendations are only listed concerning feeding as a complete and balanced meal not at a topper.
Answer by ChewyMar 01, 2021
The amount of food your pet requires will vary depending on their age, breed and activity level, but a pet's weight is one of the most accurate ways to judge how much to feed them. When combining foods, it is best to take into account the pets daily caloric needs and ration the foods accordingly to provide them with appropriate nutrition and calories. If uncertain, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian.

Great product just high

I love this product, so does my dog, but the price is so high for this. I think it should be alittle less money but like I said great product so far just started using it we will see.

Won’t eat without it!

My 14 year old Goldendoodle has become very picky about his food. With the right pricey subscription food with a few of these nuggets tucked in he will finally eat! Butnskipmthenmugfets and yiu get a view of him walking away from his food.

Great product

My dogs love this food. They have liked all flavors so far. I put it on their nulo dry food as a food topper along with a beef liver taurine topper.

Not For Large Breeds

The bag I got, salmon flavor teal bag, the AAFCO statement on the back says it is not for Large Breed Dogs. (“Except for growth of large breeds 70 lbs or more”.) The image on chewy website says INCLUDING growth of large breeds; the bag I received says EXCEPT FOR. I’m not sure if they updated their formula or what. This is important. It’s important for large breed dogs to have the correct food during their growth, because if they get the wrong amounts of certain nutrients (calcium etc) during their growth, it can contribute to joint problems (hip problems etc) as an adult. That is why these statements and guidelines exist. I got the same food in the Lamb and Raspberry variety and the AAFCO statement on that flavor says good for growth of large breeds, just as pictured, and I would buy that one again. I use them as training treats for my growing puppy and he likes them. They’re little poofs. Think doggie cheetos, or the cereal poofs you give babies. About the size of 2-3 Cocoa Puffs. They do crush pretty easily, but I sprinkle the leftover powder on his regular kibble so it doesn’t go to waste. If you have a growing large breed pup, be careful to check the nutritional statement on the package you receive of any flavor before giving to your pup.
