This review is kind of long, but I hope you'll read it. My kitty Tyson is a large-framed cat. When he was at the peak of health, he was a svelte 11 pounds. He started vomiting once or twice a week, lost a bunch of weight, so I took him to the vet. He weighed 7.8 pounds. His labs showed wonky kidneys, and his vet thought MAYBE it was diet related--perhaps a poultry allergy--and suggested we change that before digging into anything else. It took me a while to find an affordable diet that truly didn't have poultry, and while Tyson stopped vomiting, he wasn't gaining any weight back. The next recommendations were an expensive ultrasound, a more expensive blood test for pancreatic insufficiency, or seriously expensive exploratory surgery. I went for the ultrasound that revealed nothing. I asked if we could treat him for pancreatic insufficiency to see if that was the issue, but she told me if he didn't have that, the treatment would be very harmful. Then I asked if there was anything else we could try before undertaking the expense of the other tests. That's where this supplement comes in. Tyson's vet said that pancreatic insufficiency results in malabsorption of nutrients. I could try a B12 supplement that, along with stimulating his appetite, helps absorb nutrients. After a LOT of research, I came up with this one. We are now three months after starting Tyson on this supplement. AT first, he refused it and I had to aggressively pill him. But now he LOVES to get his morning chewable pill, and even reminds me if I forget. (His brother, Sagan, is jealous, but he is the LAST cat who needs an appetite stimulant.) After three months, and noticing his ribs weren't as noticeable, I took Tyson for a weigh-in so we could see any progress on the same scale. He gained 1.2 pounds!!! These chewables are literally a godsend. Over time, I never noticed he lost he curiosity, etc. But he just got the zoomies again!!!
My cat Molly has IBS, and needs B12 supplements. She hates pills, plus I have a hand tremor that makes it hard for me to cut up the human pills and to give them to her. She thinks these are treats and is disappointed she only gets one a day. She has gained some weight since we started, and her coat is already noticeably more soft and shiny. I don't think she always actually swallowed her meds everytime when we were doing it the hard way.
I needed a B12 supplement for my cat. It came the day after I ordered it. It's fantastic they can give such great service! Plus my cat is eating MUCH better since the B12.
This was recommended to me by my vet to help our cats gastrointestinal problems as a supplement to her special food and prescription medications. She loves the taste! We crush it into her soft canned cat and these are her favorite bowls of the week! Thanks for a great product!
We saw a change in our cat pretty quickly after giving her these meds. It has really helped her stomach.
The tablets are pretty large for a cat's mouth, and they crumble into powder when I tried to use a pill splitter on them. And they were not tasty enough for either of my cats to eat willingly. I had to put the crumbs into a pill pocket, which was messy. One cat wouldn't eat them no matter what
I was giving my cat injectable b12 supplement for his IBD for a few months. He became uncooperative so my vet "prescribed" this supplement. I give it to him via the pill shooter since hes a picky eater and not interested in eating it as a treat. This has been successful, however my vet is charging me 4 times the price of chewy, which I recently found out . Will be purchasing this from here from now on.
I can't say just yet if this is making a difference. I want to report the positive news that she is eating it out of my hand...5 days in a row. As we know, that's half the battle.
I was skeptical when my vet said that cats eat these supplements like treats. But, I put one down in front of my cat and he sniffed it, then immediately ate it. Since that first encounter, he looks forward to me picking up the container and putting one tablet on the counter. He loves these supplements and thinks they are treats!
My 15 year old cat was losing weight and the vet could not figure out why. She recommended trying Cobalequin B-12 and she has started to gain weight again.
