My Cat, Tucker just loves the taste of Nutramax Cosequin sprinkled on his canned food. He is 13 now and I know the ingredients in it will help his joints. They don't bother him yet, but I believe in starting early. I waited until it was too late for my other dear cat. I didn't realize how important that is. I hope everybody starts early for this routine for their cats. I would say early is about 5 yrs old but I am not a vet. A vet might recommend sooner. Great product!
Max had bladder stones 5 years ago but after prescription food and Cosequin he has been doing great. Will be 10 next year. He loves this so much he takes it “straight”. Don’t have to cover it or break the capsule up. Started giving it to Gracie because she’s gained weight and is lame in one leg. She also likes it “straight”. It’s worth the price and my kitties will be taking it forever. Thanks!
Our leukemia-positive cat, Wally, had two bad kidney stone incidents within a few weeks. Our vet recommended Cosequin, saying that it had been shown to help prevent kidney stones in cats. Wally has been taking Cosequin for a couple of months and so far, so good...no recurrence of kidney stones. He doesn't seem to notice it in his food at all.
Use caution if your kitty cat has a sensitivity or allergy to chicken. My Hershey is sensitive to chicken but I thought the chicken flavor would not affect her and at first it did not. She started over grooming and eventually scratching and biting at her fur. I immediately stopped giving it to her and added a couple of itch and allergy supplements to her daily routine. Thankfully her itchy skin is improving. She is fourteen and a half and I really wanted to give her joints a boost but this just did not work out for us.
My cat Cali has been under alot of stress bringing in a new boy cat and she couldn't go pee. And so I took her to the vet right away when I noticed this before it got worse and the vet recommended Cosequin for cats. And let me tell you this miracle pill helped with her inflammation of the bladder and she was better with 2 days. I cracked open the pull and poured it into a small bowl of water and man, cali loved it. Whenever I shake the bottle she knows it's medicine time and she can't wait. Cosequin helps with so much more problems that I give her 2 pills everyday. And she loves it. It's like she knows it makes her feel better so she drinks it completely. Thank you Cosequin and I will recommend this product hands down. Love the Miller fam
I have 4 senior rescue cats, oldest is 15, the others are 12, and two 9-year old sisters. I've been giving the oldest Cosequin for 3-4 yrs now per the Vets suggestion, because she stopped jumping up on the bed, & also was very grouchy. She now acts like a kitten when she's had her dose, zooming around & jumping wherever she wants. I have since started the 12 yr old on it, & then the other day, one of the 9 yr olds was limping slightly, (she probly landed wrong or something). I started giving it to her a couple months ago & the limp is gone. I can't say enough good things about it! I'm seriously considering starting myself on human glucosamine/chondroitin supplements for my own arthritis! Other ppl I've talked to swear by it. Lol.
Our large male cat has been having joint problems and was born with hip issues. He is now able to move about much better.. He now enjoys chasing our smaller female cat.
I use Cosequin for both of my cats. I have a cat who's pushing 15 who takes it for joint health, and a 3 year old that's been taking it for FLUTD. My senior cat is still an absolute terror in the best way after being on this supplement - she scales our 6' cat tree with ease, jumps on counters, flings herself off of furniture, and runs and plays like a kitten. Our 3 year old has had zero FLUTD flare-ups after being put on this and prescription food. This supplement is wonderful. They each get one capsule, every other day, mixed with pumpkin puree and wet food. My vet is so impressed with how healthy they both are, even with the advanced age & chronic condition.
My cat is 16 and starting to slow down/ not jump like he used to. This supplement has helped manage his aches without any need for medications thus far. Wish I’d started when he was younger!
Sylvester, tuxedo, over 10 years, a rescue, arthritic, 21 lbs - very overweight even for a big tom, extremely inactive - hence beached orca whale. Vet recommended this specific brand to me - open 2 capsules and sprinkle on to his food 1 time a day. 2 weeks in he started to show some improvement, he wasn't sleeping all day (yes they do sleep a lot, but this was excessive even for a cat). He started sort of sitting up, he'd lift his front torso up and 'stand' on his front legs for a while and seemed to have less pain going from the bedroom down the hall to the little box. He's also been sleeping less on the self heating blankets or in his bed and more sprawled out. A week after that he was able to almost fully sit up so his back feet were mostly tucked under his lower end. I started also noticing a change in his bowel movements. They had been very dense and firm, and it seemed painful for him to have a movement. The movements in the box in the last few days have been (certainly BIGGER) much softer and 'fluffy' looking ( he doesn't cover them). Last night he surprised me by showing up in the kitchen downstairs. Got there all on his own! (This is now about 5 weeks into taking the 2 capsules daily.) A few hours later I brought him back upstairs with me, figuring down is easier than up and he would probably need the bathroom. Apparently later that night he went down on his own again, as when I looked for him in the morning, he was not to be found upstairs. I came out of one of the other rooms to hear him coming up the stairs! OMG! And there he was about 4 steps from the top! He'd gone down and UP all on his own! I'd tried once before with another supplement and it didn't seem to do any good; I'd gotten that on my own and followed the printed directions. I think this brand is better than the other, I think it also matters that it's a powder mixed into his food instead of a separate pill, and how my vet told me to give it to him. I wish I'd known about this sooner, and years prior when I had another older cat with arthritis. I'm hoping with the weight management food he's been on and this new movement he'll finally drop some of the weight and have even more movement and energy. I highly recommend this brand and speaking with your vet about how much and how to best give it to your cat.
