Questions & Answers

23 Customer Questions

I want to know THE PRODUCT FACTS or how much of each ingredients please.
Answer by ChewySep 26, 2018
Each tablet of Cosequin DS Plus MSM & HA contains: Glucosamine Hydrochloride 600 milligrams, Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 300 milligrams, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 250 milligrams, Sodium Hyaluronate (HA) 6 milligrams, Manganese 3 milligrams.

What exactly are the benefits of Hyaluronic Acid for a dog? And what are the benefits of Omega 3’s for a dog? I am trying to compare your products to see which is a better fit for my dog.
Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2020
The ingredients in Cosequin products work to support joint health. The addition of omega-3’s provide skin & coat support, while Hyaluronic Acid lubricates fluid in the joints.

Does this contain any pain relief for my pet?
Answer by ChewyJan 28, 2018
This supplement's primary purpose is to provide support older dogs, younger large-breed and working dogs to maintain strong, healthy joints and cartilage.

Can dogs be allergic to the HA? Causing itching and scratching?
Answer by ChewyDec 08, 2017
Dogs can have an intolerance or allergy to different ingredients. We do recommend that you consult with a veterinarian to make sure everything is well with your pet.

Happy Lab

My beautiful 10 year old lab has been taking Nutramax Cosequin for over a year. You would never know she was 10. One year ago, Bella hurt her shoulder by running after a ball. She was limping for days. The vet gave me all these recommendations along with a cosequin supplement. I give her one a day with her morning treat after breakfast. She loves it! She is a new Dog because of this product. Highly recommend.

So far so good

We ordered one month supply for our 2 10-yr old American Bulldogs after their current hip/joint supplement became unavailable. This product had similar glucosamine and chondroitin mg and excellent reviews. It’s a little too early to tell if it is significantly helping their progressing arthritis but they both love the tablets. That’s the only reason for the 4 stars. So we will order more. Glad for all the reviews that helped us to choose this product.

Peanut’s a new dog!

Peanut is 8 and has been having ongoing issues with his back legs and back. He had one CCL surgery on his back leg and I am trying hard to avoid surgery on the other back leg. He was limping a lot a few weeks back and, from glowing reviews about Cosequin on your website, decided to give it a try. This is his second week on Cosequin and what a difference. I noticed a slight improvement after day one and immediately became encouraged. He is running, actually running at the dog park, and more playful with the other dogs. He is acting like a puppy again, and this is only the second week of initial treatment. No more limping, running and walking much faster. He gets the Cosequin before his walk or the dog park. I feel the Cosequin works better then because he is active and it really gets circulated where needed. Absolutely love this product and totally recommend for your dog. Peanut will be taking it forever. Peanut’s mom, Jane

Worth a try...

My young yellow lab has a notable limp but has been declared by vets as having no diagnosable problems. I am not willing to put her on medications that will cause liver and kidney problems in the long run. This has been a solution. Her limp is not present unless she has severely overdone herself. She isn't the biggest fan of taking any type of pill, but she will remind me to give her the dosage in the morning.

It's helping!

I had been giving my little girl a daily jerky treat with all the condrointin and glucosamine, and it helped, but it wasn't working any miracles and was an additional 34 calories she really didn't need. Started her on the Cosiquine about a week ago and it has made a big difference for her! She is able to walk our longer trail route again, which she hadn't been able to do yet this spring. I am really glad I found this! She won't eat it as a treat, but I smash it with a knife and mix the powder in her food and it's no problem!

He Likes It !

I bought this for my dog. I rescued him and he's large breed and I know larger dogs have problems. I heard clicking and popping from his hips and knees, so I decided to try this brand. I put the tablets on the floor, so he thinks it's a treat and he actually eats them. :) I only had them for a week now so it's really too early to tell if they're working.

Really helps preserve mobility

I have been using this for a few years. I have a nearly 11 year old collie that is still quite spry. Another dog was showing some signs of stiffness that cleared off after a time of being on it. My vet had recommended it.

Cosequin for collapsing trachea

The Cosequin arrived within two days of my ordering it. I'm giving it to my Chihuahua on vet advice to strengthen cartilage in his trachea to improve his cough due to trachea collapse. The label says it may take up to six weeks to see an improvement. Even though it's only been about two weeks, his coughs seem a little softer and maybe not quite as often. I do expect the Cosequin to help more as time goes on because a friend who has given it to her Chihuahua for joint pain for about a year says her dog has not had any painful episodes since about a month after he started taking it. My dog doesn't like the taste of Cosequin so I crumble it into canned food and he takes it just fine. The dosage is written on the bottle and my vet said to be very careful with giving the correct dose and to give it with food so it doesn't cause stomach upset. I would recommend this product if your vet advises it. The price is a great value towards improvement in your pet's health.

Worked almost immediately

My German Shepherd has elbow dysplasia and was limping a lot when chewy ran out of our original joint supplements. I tried something new and it did nothing. Went to the vet, $500 in tests and anti inflammatories and still nothing. So I tried these supplements and he was back to walking normally in a day. It’s not a cure but it’s helping him live his best life even with dysplasia. I highly recommend.

Great Supplement for Dogs

We adopted a Golden Lab who is 7 years old and had been mistreated by being put in a cage 24/7. He had huge issues with moving around and being able to walk for a short period of time. Since starting him on Cosequin he has improved 100%! I highly recommend this supplement for dogs (especially large dogs) as we have had a Retriever in the past that had hip issues and this truly helped him live a longer easier life.
