What is MSM ?
Answer by ChewyJul 07, 2017
MSM or Methylsulfonylmethane is an organic sulfur containing compound that is well known for its joint health benefits such as relieving pain and inflammation.

Is there a soft chewy version of this 150 count one with MSM? My dog doesn't like pills or chewable tablets...soft chewies would make them more appealing. Thanks,
Answer by ChewyMay 17, 2018
At this time, we have the Nutramax Dasuquin with MSM Soft Chews Joint Health Small/Medium Dog Supplement, 84 count available.

My dog is only 4 lbs... should I use less than 1/2 tablet or is there guidance on what to give on the bottle?
Answer by ChewyJul 02, 2019
For dogs under 10 pounds the recommended dose is 1/2 a tablet.

Is the glucosamine in this product sourced from shellfish? I am trying to find a shellfish-free product since my pup cannot tolerate fish. Thank you.
Answer by ChewyNov 06, 2017
The glucosamine in this product is shellfish based. However, the ingredient is sourced from the outer part of the shellfish rather than the protein.

I ordered this supplement for my doggo. I paid $75 for it at my Vet the first time, then I decided to look it up on Chewy, I got it soooo much cheaper and it came the next day!

Top of the line!

I have used this formulation for my dog (as well as similar formulations for my cat & horse, respectively). In all cases, there was a noticeable improvement in their comfort and ease of movement.

Going back to soft chews…

My picky senior dog stopped eating the soft chews so I thought I would try the tablets. Well, they are pretty large and hard. If you have a normal dog who wolfs down their food and has most of their teeth to chew with, you’ll probably be fine. I tried crushing it as well and it was too much powder to get her to eat. At her weight she’s supposed to start with 2 of these tablets. See photo. Back to the soft chews! The supplement itself has helped our 13 yr old lab/husky/pitt mix with her arthritis. Before we started using it she would groan when laying down. We saw results within a few weeks. I also tried switching to another highly rated supplement (when she stopped eating the soft chews) but it lacked chondroitin and her arthritis symptoms worsened while on it. Vet recommended switching back.

Zoey loves them

We have been using this product for several years. We have a very active 4 year old Lab and she is doing great. We feel confident this product helps her joints and contributes to her high energy

Excellent product

Our dachshund was dragging his back leg due to old age. Our vet recommended this product, and it has done wonders for our dog, Dickens!! We noticed an improvement within the few days. I would definitely recommend this product to help with joint pain and arthritis.

Pills are too large for small dogs

I liked the idea of giving my dogs dasuquin every day instead of every other day (as with the soft chews) BUT these pills are soooo large I have to cut them up to get my dogs to swallow them. Soooo disappointing!

Added years back!

We have been trying this product for 3 mo. now, so I feel like I can give an honest review. I have a 14 yr German Shorthair Pointer. He is healthy and ideal weight, so there are no underlying illnesses. Just aging. For the last year he has been struggling standing up from his bed and his walks were getting shorter. I decided to give this product a try and after about a month and half I noticed one day that he was just popping up out of his bed again. And he walks the entire block(about a mile) without skipping a beat, plus energy to spare. He has started his zoomies again, although they don’t last as long, but I’ll take it. I feel like years have been added back to his life, so I can’t recommend this product enough. I followed the dosage as described on the bottle and he is now on one pill a day. He is a picky eater, but he will eat these with no problem, if I break them in half.

Treat time

Dog thinks they are a treat, has one every morning and actually asks for one if we forget. Can't comment on the medical benefits as nothing to compare but he likes them and vet recommended so we'll keep giving them to him.
