My dog will not eat this pill. I break it up & give it with boiled chicken. Can the large tablet be crushed into powder & mixed with water to be put in a plunger syringe & squirted in her mouth? Can I give her 1/2 or 3/4 of the chewable tablet for all dog sizes? She's 19 lbs.
Answer by ChewyMar 16, 2021
This supplement can be crushed. While these tablets may be chewed, they do not have to be in order to be effective. This medication should be administered on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before eating. If you must mask with food it is recommended to use no more than one tablespoon. If uncertain if the manufacturer's recommended dosage is appropriate for your individual pet, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian.

How large are the pills? Could you give me a measurement of the diameter?
Answer by ChewyDec 21, 2017
The supplement is about the size of a dime with a diameter of 0.705 inches.

What flavor are these?
Answer by ChewyJul 25, 2018
This supplement is pork liver flavored.

Are these the same as the pills?
Answer by ChewyFeb 28, 2021
This supplement is in a chewable tablet form. Please see attached image for your reference.

Good Supplement, Awful Pill

This brand is highly recommended by my longtime friend who is a vet. I started using the smaller pill form as my dog is a sheltie; I just disguise it and she takes it without any issue. I decided to get this version and did not read the reviews first, which I should have : ). The taste of this version is awful (I tasted it myself---YUK!!!) so I am giving the bottles (I bought 2, another mistake) to my vet friend and she can sell it to her clients if she wants. So make sure you get the smaller ones that you can disguise easily with a tad of peanut butter. Good product, lousy version! Woof!

Denamarin chewable

I had heard that many dogs might not like the taste of these chewables, but because my dog needs them every day, it is hard to get him to eat the non-chewables even when I disguise them in treats. Unfortunately, my doggie did not like the chewables (even in treats) any better, and because they are larger, I am going to stick to the regular Denamarin pills.

Tablets Too Large

Unfortunately the size of these tablets are much too large. My dogs refuse to eat the "chewable" tablets so I find it necessary to crush. Considering we're talking about animals here, one would think the manufacturer could develop SMALL tablets!!!

Unflavored

My pup won't eat these at all! They were out of stock so I bought capsules & pill pockets which was fine. Trying to save calories, I bought chewables, but they're unflavored, so she spits it right out. I've never bought a chewable dog tablet that didn't have SOME kind of flavoring so she'd eat it. I won't buy again.

Not chewable if the dog rejects it

I'm not commenting about its effectiveness--only the ease of administering to the dog. It's a large tablet that is called chewable but my dog has no interest in eating it. The result is I have to cut it in 4 pieces and wrap each in peanut butter.

love my pup

My lab has been on Denamarin for years and has responded well to it. It is much easier to give her the chewable vs the other where I have to coat it with peanut butter. I am glad to see it back in stock since my vet said there isn't a suitable substitute for this product.

Timely Service

My vet recommended this product and Chewy's for a large dog. This dog has been getting Predisone for a few years and the liver enzymes are 'off' and he thought this product would help. You were very timely in mailing it out. Also, the ordering process was easy.

Not tasty and very large

Got the chewable because I thought would be easier to administer. Nope! My dog refuses to eat these. The pills are huge and must taste terrible. He spits them out!

Bitter taste

Our dog was unfortunately not able to tolerate the strong bitter taste no matter what we tried to put it in. Money wasted.

This is how to get your dog to eat these

Excellent product. Like a lot of people when the pill was not available anymore, I had to buy the chewable version and my dog did not like the taste and would spit it out. So I bought some peanut butter (a cool brand without all the sugar), broke the chewable in half and put a little of the peanut butter on it and he now begs for it.
