Nutramax Denamarin Chewable Tablets Dog Supplement

When liver function is compromised, the exact cause can often be difficult to determine. Supporting the liver, regardless of the cause, is essential to keep it working properly. Administering SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine), which is found in Denamarin, has been shown to markedly increase liver levels of glutathione, an important compound for liver health formed when SAMe is metabolized. The SAMe in Denamarin has also been shown to help protect liver cells from cell death and may help cell repair and regeneration. Denamarin also helps support your dog's liver through the administration of silybin. Silybin is an active part of an extract from milk thistle, known as silymarin, and has been shown to support liver function by helping maintain a healthy oxidative balance. Denamarin Chewable Tablets allow dogs to receive SAMe and silybin in a tasty treat, eliminating the need to "pill" your dog daily. Additionally, the chewable tablets allow for quicker uptake of the SAMe and less variability between dogs when compared to enteric-coated tablets.
While best known for supporting the liver in dogs, Denamarin also has a place in supporting brain health. Denamarin provides SAMe in a stabilized form to help with brain health and act as a neuroprotector. Denamarin also provides a bioavailable form of silybin which supports oxidative balance.

Too large for older dogs
By MMurphy on Feb 14, 2019
I am sure this product works but to give 1 and a half of these large hard tables to an older dog that already is taking several pills a day is not optimal. I would have saved my money or bought another brand or something more chewable. I can barely get one half down her and she is too smart not to notice them cut up and hidden. I tried shaving them in a favorite treat but that does not work.

Helps my dog with liver issues
By Tiffany on Feb 17, 2019
My dog has been on medication for seizures which over time affects her liver. The vet had recommended to have her take denamarin supplements to help and my dog takes it with a pill pocket with no trouble. I haven't had her on this for too long of a period of time to see if it helps her liver but this is worth a try.

Picky doggie
By Notsohappy on Feb 14, 2019
It says they are chewable, but my dog will not chew it up, I have to crush it up and wrap it in a piece of cheese. I was hoping these would be easier to give to her but they are not. I am sure it probably just her, she is very picky with what she eats. Will not buy these again.

Chewable not a good alternative...wanted to rate it less than 1 star
By Halle on Feb 10, 2019
I bought the chewable as an alternative to the little blue pill...BIG MISTAKE.. I just threw away money...my little female cocker refuses to take it...even hidden in lite whipped cream cheese! If your dog is not a great pill taker...this is not an alternative!!

My dog wouldn’t touch it
By Melia on Feb 3, 2019
My 13 year old mutt has liver disease, so this medication is imperative. I’ve been hiding the blue Denamarin pills inside pill pockets or pieces of lunch meat. Bought these tablets when the blue pills were out of stock. Bad idea. She smelled it, and walked away.

Nutramax Denamarin
By Makanadog on Dec 14, 2018
Makana takes Denamarin every day on an empty stomach, so I though this chewable could supplement his hepatic kibble and hepatic canned food. I offered him one and he turned away. The smell was very "chemy," like something industrial. So I left the jar open to air it out. Then he was slightly more interested. I put a couple in his hepatic dinner, and he ate around the tablets, though. They should add some sort of attractive flavoring to the tablets, like smoked jerky flavor, like Pill Pockets has. I'm going to keep trying to get him to want them. I'm sure it would be good for him if he did.

Four stars b/c my dog won’t eat the “chewable” tablets
By JJM2017 on Dec 3, 2018
Actually, I don’t know if it works as my dog wouldn’t eat the chewable tablets. So, Chewy gave me a refund and I donated the remainder. I can’t remember now but I think I contacted the company about a capsule form (don’t have capsules) and she said I could probably give the chewable with a little food. So, I may reorder sometime and break it up into pieces and coat with peanut butter or put into a peanut butter sandwich:). This will likely inhibit maximum absorption but probably better than nothing. I would have the same problem even if it did come in capsule form—I would have to put it in some kind of food. I wish companies could make pills that taste like Heargard as I have never (out of 9 Actually, I don’t know if it works as my dog wouldn’t eat the chewable tablets. Nutramax Chewables
By tuck on Feb 19, 2019
I bought these denamarin because they were chewable. My dog usually eats anything but these tablets are not very tasty so I have to break the tablet and mix with food before he eats one.

These are chewable if concrete is chewable
By Liver1 on Jan 2, 2019
I bought these for a 22 lb Wire Fox Terrier who laughed when I gave it to him. Chew what? Chewable should be soft. Concrete is more chewable. I tried breaking the tablet into smaller pieces and he walked away. Even crushed the pill and put it in cheese. Ha! Don't be fooled by what it says on the label.

Chewable Denamarin
By Debbie on Feb 20, 2019
I like the chewables, my dog has no problem taking them, as with the regular pills I have to use peanut butter and sometimes she licks it off and I find it later.
