Frequently Asked Questions

What causes bad breath in dogs and cats?

The most common cause of bad breath in dogs and cats is tartar buildup surrounding the teeth. As in people, small particles of food remain in the mouth after eating. Food particles decompose creating conditions where oral bacteria thrive and form dental plaque - a combination of bacteria, mineral and decomposed food. As plaque ages and gingivitis develops into periodontitis, bacteria changes from somewhat irritating strains to bone destroying types that produce hydrogen sulfide and methylmercaptan, two principal odor causing molecules. • One of my dogs favorite

My dog doesn't like getting their teeth brushed but will stand it. Now with this tooth paste my dog gets excited when they see this tooth paste come out!

  • Dog really dislikes taste!

    By on

This is the first toothpaste made for dogs where my dog refuses to have his teeth brushed because he so dislikes the taste. Usually he thinks of having his teeth brushed in the same way he thinks about receiving a treat-- eagerly waiting with tail wagging as I put the toothpaste on his toothbrush. Since I bought this (got the poultry flavor) and brushed his teeth with it once, he tries to immediately leave the room to escape having his teeth brushed!! So, I recommend trying another toothpaste. Clearly my dog disagrees with the "great tasting" claim on the box...

  • Dog hates taste

    By on

My dog eats pretty much everything. She's never turned down any food, treat, bone, anything. But this she kept shaking her head when I brushed her teeth and wouldn't come near me again to try it twice. I finally got her back and she shook her head and was like spitting it out. She really didn't like the taste.

  • Best treatment for Mini Aussie

    By on

My lapsa/chow mix despises it. She is 14 and never cared for any oral treatments from my mother. Every morning, my Mini Aussie plays to earn her toothpaste then gets a lick and two top teeth swipes and final lick of the tube. That's how she brushes her teeth before last outside walk as parents go to work.

My Lilly had to have all of her teeth pulled 3 years ago. The infection moved to her kidneys & we weren't sure she'd make it. She sure did! Now, my puppy Josie will have a weekly brushing, she even lets me floss her teeth!!

  • Prices and whipping are awesome!

My dog recently had teeth removed. We are trying to save the ones he has left by brushing every day. He loves the toothpaste. It is hard to brush when he is licking the toothpaste. I guess he likes it.
