What does Dog'swell do to make sure its products are safe?
Our manufacturing facilities are highly regarded and are held to strict quality assurance standards.Dog'swell has a rigorous testing program for both raw materials and final products in order to ensure the safety and quality of our food and treats.Third party auditors ensure that all food safety controls and procedures are followed. Our manufacturing facilities are designed to prevent cross-contamination and all of our products are manufactured under strict sanitary conditions. We closely monitor these facilities, and also regularly visit them to ensure the quality and safety of our products. Our co-packing plants operate under HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), a system for managing food safety. Also, U.S.-based Third Party Food Safety Auditors make announced and unannounced visits to the audit all food safety and quality systems in which our facilities have always received high scores.
Where are your products made?
Most Dog'swell products are manufactured in the US. Our Nutrisca Cat wet food items are manufactured in Thailand, where we hold these facilities to the same stringent quality standards we maintain at our US facilities. Dog'swell sources its ingredients based upon where we find top quality ingredients and a high quality supplier whose facilities and practices meet our safety testing standards.
What does the O2 absorber packet in your treat bag's do? What should I do if my pet eats it?
It helps to keep the moisture and oxygen out, which helps keep the product from spoiling. It contains iron, active carbon, salt and water. We have not had any issues in the past with dog's getting sick from accidentally swallowing this packet, but please do monitor your dog for the next 48 hours. If you notice anything different, we advise you consult with a veterinarian.GENERAL
What is Dog'swellS mission?
Everything we do is in the pursuit of making dog's as happy as they make us. That means making delicious food and treats that they love today, with pro-active health benefits that will keep them running, jumping, digging, fetching and wagging their tails for many years to come.
What if my pet doesnT like Dog'swell food or treats? Do you offer a satisfaction guarantee?
If you are unsatisfied for any reason with your Dog'swell product, you can return it to the retailer you purchased it from for a full refund contingent on the store return policy. Which of your products are grain-free?
All of our products are grain-free except for Happy Hips and Vitality dry food for dog's, which contain nutritious whole grains and oats.
What is chicken meal?
Chicken meal is a concentrated, highly-digestible protein source left over when chicken is cooked, and all of the fat and water are released. All chicken meal contains some bone. Our chicken meal does not include organs, feathers, heads, feet, or entrails.
What are Glucosamine and Chondroitin?
Glucosamine and Chondroitin are found in our Happy Hips and Senior life stage products to help maintain hip and joint health. Glucosamine is natural compound found in healthy cartilage. Its necessary for the maintenance of connective tissues. Chondroitin is a molecule thats found in cartilage and bone and helps with joint mobility . The Glucosamine and Chondroitin used in Dog'swell products are sourced from shellfish.
Are your products Organic?
While all of our products don’t meet the definition of Organic, we always strive to source the highest quality ingredients and produce them in a wholesome way.
Are your products natural?
Our products are natural with added vitamins and minerals. Natural is defined as a feed or ingredient derived solely from plant, animal or mined sources, either in its unprocessed state or having been subjected to physical processing, heat processing, rendering, purification extraction, hydrolysis, enzymolysis or fermentation, but not having been produced by or subject to a chemically synthetic process and not containing any additives or processing aids that are chemically synthetic except in amounts as might occur unavoidably in good manufacturing practices.
What does "raw freeze dried" mean?
Raw pet food and treats comes in 2 forms: frozen or freeze dried. When a raw product is freeze dried, all of the moisture is removed using pressure instead of a thermal process. In doing so, the product is never cooked and all of the water is removed, making it shelf stable. We take special care to process our raw products in a safe way, using High Pressure Pasteurization (HPP) to eliminate harmful bacteria. The result is safe, convenient food and treats with the inherent nutrients of each raw ingredient.
Has the kibble size in your dry food changed recently?
There is a change in-progress to the size and shape of the kibble in our Nutrisca, Happy Hips and Vitality dry food to be a more consistent size, appropriate for all breeds and life stages. You will notice that the new sized kibble is relatively smaller as we feel it is important to have kibble that is suitable for dog's of all sizes. Whether your dog is 3 or 200 lbs, they will be able to enjoy the new rounder, smaller kibble.
How long do your treats stay fresh after opening?
Our resealable bag's are designed to lock in freshness and keep air out. To retain freshness and prolong shelf life, try removing all of the air inside the bag, tightly seal it and put it in the refrigerator.
How long does your canned food stay fresh after opening?
Our canned foods can be refrigerated for at least a week after opening.
Can I refrigerate your treats?
Yes, if you wish to do so you can refrigerate our treats. The only treats that require refrigeration after opening are the Artisan Meats Sliders and Deli Slices. How should I store your food and treats?Temperatures below 85°F and above 40°F are best to store our food and treats. It is best not to store pet food products in warm to hot conditions as this will increase the chances of rancidity and vitamin break-down. It is also not good to allow products to ‘freeze’ in cold conditions as this may change the textures of canned products.
How do I interpret the feeding guidelines on your packaging?
Food: Please use our feeding guidelines as a recommendation but consult your veterinarian with questions as activity levels and weight can vary from dog to dog.Treats: Our treats are intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. They should not be used as a replacement for a complete and balanced diet, please treat responsibly. You should always observe your pet's while they consume treats and provide them with plenty of water.
Is it safe to feed Happy Hips products to a puppy?
We recommend Happy Hips for adult dog's (dog's over 2 years old). Dog's should be finished growing before receiving Glucosamine and Chondroitin on a regular basis. If you have any questions please consult your veterinarian.

Salmon! Always a yummy choice
By Cardie on Oct 8, 2021
I didn’t know they had this till the lamb blend went out of stock. Of course he likes it. The bag isn’t as big and it’s more expensive so not sure if we’ll switch back or not.

Dogs stopped eating
By Alison on May 11, 2020
We had good luck with this food for a few years. However, once we got the most recent bag, all three of my dogs stopped eating it. We had to switch them to another brand to get them to eat any food.

Nutrisca is a highly digestible food that does not contain all the starch and sugar fillers others do. Switching to Nutrisca helped clear up Austin's skin issues.

My black lab does not like this food, hardly will eat it and when he does he will throw up. We will go back to the taste of the wild brand.
