If feeding NUTRO™ Cat Food for the first time or changing formulas, we suggest blending increasing amounts of the new formula with your old cat food for 6 days:
For 2 Days: 25% NUTRO™ Cat Food, 75% Old Food For 2 Days: 50% NUTRO™ Cat Food, 50% Old Food For 2 Days: 75% NUTRO™ Cat Food, 25% Old Food For a Lifetime: 100% NUTRO™ Cat Food
Why do we recommend this transition? Your cat’s digestive system might be sensitive to dietary change. This blending period allows their system to adjust to the highly digestible and healthy NUTRO™ Cat Food. A six day transition will help reduce the chances of your cat experiencing dietary upsets that can sometimes accompany sudden changes in diet.
For Cats With Sensitive Systems
Some cats are particularly sensitive to changes in diet. For these cats, it is recommended to increase the transition period to 14 days. Additionally, some changes in diet are bigger changes than others and can benefit from a longer transition. These bigger changes might include switching between wet and dry formulas, switching life stages or transitioning onto an indoor or tailored-solutions formula. To use a longer transition, follow the blending chart below.

Best cat food
By Nana on Nov 27, 2020
I finally found a cat food that all my cats love! they eat it all instead of licking the gravy/juice and leaving the meat. One of my kittys throws up her food especially fish but she hasn't thrown this up and eats every bite. Love this cat food.

Something has changed...
By KellyW on Nov 6, 2020
We've been feeding our picky eater this food for a couple of years, and she's been perfectly happy until the last autoship. She won't eat it any more, and our non-picky cat won't touch it. Even the outdoor feral colony won't touch the stuff. So now we have to try and find a different food that she will eat.

My cat loves this--
By jazzqn on Oct 22, 2020
My small cat decided she didn't want to eat (!). She lost a full pound of weight. Out of many attempts, she liked this. It's portion size is perfect-- she would not eat food that has been refrigerated. We are happy campers!

Too much trash
By BetsyO on Nov 17, 2020
My cats seem to love this little morsel of food BUT the packaging is excessive and not recycleable ? Too wasteful the cans are bad enough!

Hard to open containers
By Anne on Jun 18, 2020
My cats love the chicken and liver but the container is difficult to open. It is only one serving and I have multiple cats. Sadly I will be looking for a larger canned food that they like.

The small quantity in each pod is just about right

Less food, more money.
By jpluttme on Jan 13, 2020
When my cats were kittens, they ate the Nutro kitten formula in cans exclusively. Fortunately, that was still available up to the point that they became adults. Since I wanted to stick to Nutro, I switched to the perfect portions pate offerings (this and other flavors) and although my cats tolerate this food, I've had enough of the packaging. My seven-year-old loves to feed the cats but struggles to peel back the foil, and when she does, the juice more often than not spills out. Even I, a 42 year old man, find the foil frustrating and difficult to remove at times. Furthermore, I'm paying more for less food and frustrating packaging. Sorry Nutro, but my cats and I are moving on.

Good food, but bring back the cans
By NJCATS on Feb 12, 2020
My cats like all the flavors except the beef. The new packaging is really annoying. They are really hard to open and I get sauce on me when I open them. Also the price per ounce skyrocketed. I don't mind paying a little more for a good food, but just bring back the cans.

Cats do not like
By Njones1256 on Jan 19, 2020
My cats love the nutro max cans and chewy doesn’t carry them anymore so I decided to try this thinking it’s the same brand and hoping the taste would be the same and I could easily transition but my cats do not like it at all. Very frustrated that the old food is not available and now they won’t eat this .

Great food, horrid packaging
By catloveranonymous on Dec 16, 2019
This is the only cat food my 2 cats like after trying over 20 different ones when Nutro changed the packaging. I am disgusted that Mars reduced the amount, raised the price and discontinued the cans. I would have gladly paid more if they were just honest and raised the price. Now my cats get less, the plastic containers are not recyclable, it is messy and extremely difficult to open especially with arthritis. I would love to start a petition to get Mars to have an option of packaging their product in cans as well as the not so "perfect portion" containers. Thank you.
